TAAG says its normal flight schedule has resumed after the first aircraft maintenance technicians' strike ended on October 15. Three later strike periods remain notified for November and December 2026 while talks continue.

No flight-by-flight cancellation list or general change and refund offer has been published for those later dates. A strike notice is therefore a reason to monitor a booking, not proof that a particular flight will be cancelled.

The practical answer: TAAG flights are operating normally after the October stoppage. If you travel during a later notified period, save the itinerary, check the operating carrier and keep your contact details current. Do not cancel voluntarily or assume October's special terms apply unless TAAG confirms an option for your booking.

This page was checked at 10:41 p.m. in Luanda on October 17, 2026. Strike plans and individual flight status can change.

The remaining TAAG strike dates

TAAG's October 7 strike notice listed four periods. The first has finished. These three remain on the published calendar:

  • November 6 to 10: the notice remains published, with no flight list or general waiver. Watch the exact flight and booking.
  • December 5 to 10: the notice remains published, with no flight list or general waiver. Keep holiday plans flexible until TAAG gives flight-specific information.
  • December 19 to 23: the notice remains published, with no flight list or general waiver. Check early because replacement seats may be harder to find close to Christmas.

The notice does not publish start or finish times within those dates. It also does not say that every flight will stop. Negotiations can still change, postpone or cancel any period.

What happened during the October strike

TAAG's October 16 recovery update says it operated 186 of 188 scheduled flights during the October 11 to 15 stoppage. The airline reported an execution rate above 98 percent and average on-time performance of 84 percent, then said its regular schedule had resumed.

Those figures describe the first period only. They do not predict the November or December timetable. A later contingency plan could protect most flights, change some departure times or cancel selected services. TAAG has not yet published that detail.

The airline says it is continuing discussions with the Aircraft Maintenance Technicians' Union. 360 Angola reported after the first period that no wage agreement had been reached and the three later stoppages were still planned.

If you already have a TAAG booking

Start with TAAG's Flight Status page and Manage Bookings. Search by the flight number where possible, then compare the result with the itinerary and any message sent to the email address or phone number in the reservation.

Save a copy of the original ticket before accepting a change. Check every sector, not only the flight touching Luanda. A new departure can affect the connection time, baggage route, return flight and airport transfer.

TAAG said affected passengers would be contacted about schedule adjustments and available options. That is not a guaranteed notice period. Correct an old phone number or email address now, and use the airline's contact page if the booking and flight-status results conflict.

If a travel agent, booking site or corporate travel desk issued the ticket, keep that issuer involved. It may need to reissue the reservation even when the operating decision comes from TAAG.

If you are considering a new booking

A ticket during a notified strike window can still be reasonable when the trip has some flexibility. Before buying, compare the fare's voluntary change and refund terms with the cost of a more flexible option. Do not assume a future strike waiver will cover a restricted fare.

Check whether the journey is all on one ticket. One reservation usually gives the issuer a clearer view of the complete itinerary when a sector changes. Separate tickets leave the traveler to protect the next booking and meet its no-show deadline.

Allow a realistic connection rather than relying on the shortest result. The October period had limited cancellations, but it also had delays and planned adjustments. That history supports preparation, not a promise about December.

Changes, refunds and the October-only boundary

During the first strike period, TAAG published special conditions for eligible October 11 to 15 travel. Contemporary reporting described changes or full refunds for qualifying tickets issued by October 10, with requests allowed until November 15.

That was an October-specific offer. It should not be applied to November or December bookings without a new TAAG notice. At the October 17 check, the airline had not published a blanket waiver for the three later periods.

If TAAG changes or cancels your flight, ask the airline or ticket issuer to put the available choices in writing. Before selecting one, confirm:

  1. the new date, route and operating carrier;
  2. whether every onward and return sector remains confirmed;
  3. how checked baggage will move through the new itinerary;
  4. which unused sectors a refund would remove; and
  5. whether accepting one option closes the other choices.

TAAG's change-booking page directs passengers to its contact channels for flight changes. The airline's general conditions of carriage remain useful background, but they are not a substitute for the terms attached to a specific disruption.

Connections, baggage and day-of-travel checks

Find the operating carrier for each sector. A TAAG flight number sold through a partner and a partner flight sold by TAAG are not the same operational decision. Follow the operating airline's status for that leg and keep the ticketing airline or agent available for changes to the whole reservation.

The strike notice does not establish that checked bags will be delayed. Still, a late or changed connection can separate a passenger from luggage. Keep medicine, documents, chargers, keys and one practical change of clothes within the cabin allowance. Save the bag receipt and photograph the bag before check-in.

On the travel day, check the exact flight before leaving for the airport. If it still shows scheduled and TAAG has not changed the booking, follow the normal check-in and bag-drop deadlines. A general strike notice is not permission to miss a scheduled service.

Mobile data for a changed TAAG journey

An Angola OpenSim eSIM can provide ground data for airline messages, maps and issuer contact in Angola. Travelers using major TAAG markets can also compare country plans for Portugal, South Africa and Brazil.

These are separate OpenSim products, not a TAAG benefit or one multi-country package. Check the selected plan's country coverage, allowance, validity, network, hotspot support and top-up field at checkout. Keep the usual SIM available if the airline or bank sends verification texts to the home number.

Install on an unlocked compatible phone while reliable Wi-Fi is available. The guides to phone compatibility, installation timing and travel data needs can help with that choice.

An eSIM provides ground-based mobile data where the selected plan has coverage. It cannot keep a flight operating, change a ticket, trace baggage or provide inflight connectivity.

Ten questions about the TAAG strike

Are TAAG flights operating normally now?

Yes, according to TAAG's October 16 update. The airline said its regular schedule resumed after the first strike period ended. Check the exact flight because normal scheduling does not guarantee an individual departure.

What TAAG strike dates remain in 2026?

The published periods are November 6 to 10, December 5 to 10, and December 19 to 23. TAAG did not publish daily start and end times with the notice.

Are all flights cancelled during those dates?

No blanket cancellation has been announced. The October strike affected only two of 188 scheduled flights, but that result does not determine what will happen in a later period.

How can I check my exact TAAG flight?

Use TAAG's Flight Status page, then open Manage Bookings and compare both with the latest airline message. Search by flight number when possible.

Will TAAG contact me if my flight changes?

TAAG says affected passengers will be contacted using the details in their booking. It has not promised one notice time for every adjustment, so keep those details current and continue checking.

Can I change or refund a November or December ticket now?

TAAG has not published a general strike waiver for the later periods. A voluntary request follows the ticket's current rules unless the airline offers a disruption option for that booking.

Does October's refund offer cover the later strikes?

Not on the published evidence. The reported offer was limited to qualifying October 11 to 15 travel and tickets issued by October 10. Wait for a new TAAG notice before relying on similar terms.

What if a travel agent sold my ticket?

Contact the issuer as well as checking TAAG's flight status. The issuer may control the reissue or refund even when TAAG changes the operating schedule.

What happens to a connection on a separate ticket?

It will not normally change automatically when a TAAG flight moves. Contact the next provider before its no-show deadline and check insurance terms before buying a replacement.

Does the strike mean my checked bag will be delayed?

Not by itself. The notice concerns maintenance technicians and does not prove a baggage disruption. Pack essentials in the cabin allowance and keep the bag receipt in case the itinerary changes.

What to check next

Use TAAG's own press releases, booking record and flight-status page for the next decision. This guide will need an update if a later strike is withdrawn, postponed, begins or ends, or if TAAG publishes affected flights or new passenger terms.

The October result is reassuring, but it is not a forecast. For a November or December trip, the useful facts are the status of the exact flight and the written choices attached to the booking.
