Tello free Europe roaming runs through September 30, 2026

August 5, 2026. Updated August 21, 2026. Tello is including mobile data, calls and texts from a customer's regular monthly plan while that customer roams in listed European destinations. The temporary offer runs through September 30, 2026.

Tello announced the promotion on August 3. It says customers do not need a separate travel pass or Pay As You Go roaming balance for eligible use. The important limit is easy to miss: "included" does not give every plan unlimited data. Data, minutes and texts come from the allowance already attached to the customer's Tello plan.

The practical point: An existing Tello customer traveling to a listed destination before the end of September may not need to buy separate trip data. The offer is temporary, requires an active plan and a line previously used in the United States, and does not settle every hotspot question.

What Tello changed for Europe roaming

Tello's normal international roaming service charges calls, texts and data to a separate Pay As You Go balance. For this promotion, the company says the same three services can instead draw from the customer's monthly plan in its Europe list.

The announcement gives five operating rules:

1. The promotion lasts through September 30, 2026.
2. Eligible data, talk and text use comes from the regular Tello plan allowance.
3. No extra roaming balance or Pay As You Go credit is required for the promotion.
4. The customer must turn on International Roaming in the Tello account.
5. Tello tells customers to enable that account setting before leaving the United States.

Trips outside the listed European destinations still use Tello's normal international roaming rates and rules. The promotion also does not add a service that is absent from the monthly plan. A no-data plan does not gain a data allowance, and a limited plan still has its limit.

Tello now confirms the overage and US-use rules

Tello's official roaming page and help center now incorporate the promotion. The activation instructions say any active monthly plan qualifies, no Pay As You Go credit is needed for included use, and International Roaming must be enabled in the account.

The same instructions explicitly keep the prior-US-use condition: international roaming works only after the line has been used in the United States. This is a confirmed promotion rule, not merely a condition inferred from Tello's normal roaming service.

The charging help adds two limits. A monthly plan must contain data before it can provide roaming data, and use beyond the plan allowance can be charged to Pay As You Go credit if that credit is available. Tello also says roaming usage can appear after a delay of seven days or more. Do not treat the account dashboard as a real-time roaming meter near the plan limit.

Tello's August 3 promotion page now answers the main Unlimited-plan question: it says customers can use up to 50 GB of full-speed roaming data per billing cycle. The page does not clearly promise that reduced-speed continuation after 50 GB will work the same way on every European partner network, so travelers who expect to reach that threshold should confirm the fallback behavior with Tello.

Check that the International Roaming control is available before leaving the United States. If it is unavailable or switches off, contact Tello rather than relying on an overseas activation workaround.

Which European destinations are included?

Tello's current country-list help page names the following places. The list is broader than the European Union and includes the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine, Western Balkan countries and several island territories.

Tello lists the United Kingdom and its constituent countries separately. Treat this as a coverage list, not a count of sovereign states. Tello reserves the right to change the list, so check the live help page again if a trip is near the end of September.

What Tello customers should do before flying

Complete the account checks while a reliable home connection and Tello support are still easy to reach.

1. Confirm the line has worked in the United States. Tello's promotion-specific activation help makes prior US use a condition for international roaming.
2. Check the plan allowance and renewal date. The promotion consumes the existing data, talk and text balances. A billing-cycle reset during the trip can change what remains.
3. Set up Wi-Fi Calling before departure. It provides another route for calls and texts when a stable Wi-Fi connection is available. Tello's Wi-Fi Calling help says normal plan minutes apply on Wi-Fi.
4. Enable International Roaming before leaving the United States. Tello's promotion page gives this timing explicitly. Make sure the control is present, the line is eligible and the setting remains on before departure.
5. Know the phone's roaming setting. The account setting and the device's Data Roaming switch are separate. Data will not connect through a roaming partner if the required phone setting is off.
6. Save an offline fallback. Download the hotel address, first transport route and any booking codes. A promotion cannot guarantee signal from a local partner in every station, tunnel or rural area.

Tello supports both physical SIM and eSIM service, and its help center says any active monthly plan qualifies. That makes this a plan-level benefit rather than an eSIM-only product. Tello has not published format-specific promotion terms for every device combination, so account eligibility and prior US use remain the checks that matter most.

Will Tello's Europe roaming use 5G?

Tello has not promised 5G throughout the promotion. Its international roaming guidance says network availability and speed depend on the local carrier, the location and the phone. A device can fall back to 4G or have no signal even if 5G appears elsewhere in the same country.

The same caution applies to hotspot use. Tello advertises tethering on its domestic plans, but the August promotion does not explicitly say whether a phone can share the included roaming allowance. Confirm hotspot support with Tello before planning to connect a laptop or several family devices.

Can Tello still receive bank codes and normal texts in Europe?

The promotion includes texts from the regular plan, so ordinary cellular SMS should use the plan's text allowance in a listed destination. Wi-Fi Calling can also carry calls and texts when the device and account are configured correctly.

Neither method guarantees that every bank or service will deliver a verification code. The sender can block international delivery, short codes can behave differently, and an account-security check can fail for reasons unrelated to roaming. Keep a second sign-in method for essential banking, email and travel accounts.

Tello Europe roaming versus Roaming eSIM

An eligible Tello customer with enough monthly allowance should use the included benefit when it fits the trip. Paying for a second data plan solely because it exists would not improve that traveler's value.

Roaming eSIM has the clearer advantage in other cases: the traveler is not a Tello customer, the Tello line was not used in the United States, the journey falls after September 30, the existing allowance is too small, or a separate data line is preferred while the Tello number remains available for calls and texts.

🏆 Roaming eSIM wins for broader eligibility and planning beyond the promotion: it does not require an existing Tello account or prior use of a Tello line in the United States. A traveler can compare live country and regional packages, install one on a compatible unlocked phone and keep the usual Tello line available alongside it.

That is not a claim that Roaming eSIM is cheaper than included Tello data. For an eligible customer with enough allowance, the Tello promotion can be the better value through September 30. Roaming eSIM's edge is that it remains a separate, purchasable option when the promotion does not apply.

1. Is the Europe roaming really free? There is no extra charge for use inside the promotion and plan allowance. Excess use can draw from Pay As You Go credit, if available.
2. Does every plan get unlimited data? No. Each plan keeps its own allowance. Tello says the Unlimited plan provides up to 50 GB of full-speed Europe roaming data per billing cycle; it does not clearly confirm identical reduced-speed continuation on every partner after that threshold.
3. Is Pay As You Go credit required? No for use inside the plan allowance. It can be used for overage or roaming outside the promotion.
4. Should the line and roaming setting be ready before travel? Yes. The line must have been used in the United States, and Tello tells customers to enable International Roaming before departure.
5. Does it work with eSIM and physical SIM? Tello describes it as a plan benefit and supports both formats, but it has not published format-specific promotion terms.
6. Is 5G guaranteed? No. Speed depends on the local network, device and location.
