United plans to restore nonstop flights between Denver and Flagstaff on August 10, 2027. The filed schedule has two round trips each day, operated by SkyWest Airlines for United Express with a 50-seat CRJ-550.

The route is on sale and Denver International Airport lists Flagstaff among its upcoming destinations. It is still future service, so passengers should use the live booking result and issued itinerary rather than treating the filed times as fixed.

The practical answer: United plans two daily flights in each direction between Denver International Airport (DEN) and Flagstaff Pulliam Airport (FLG) from August 10, 2027. Search the exact date before booking a hotel, car or tour. The service has not started, and its times or aircraft could change before launch.

This guide was checked on October 9, 2026.

The Denver-Flagstaff route is due back in August 2027

Denver International Airport's nonstop destination list names Flagstaff as an upcoming route beginning August 10, 2027. The current schedule filing reported by AeroRoutes provides the initial operating plan:

FlightRouteFiled local time
UA5277Denver to Flagstaff11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
UA5229Denver to Flagstaff7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
UA5308Flagstaff to Denver6:00 a.m. to 8:45 a.m.
UA5368Flagstaff to Denver1:30 p.m. to 4:15 p.m.

All four flights are filed as daily CRJ-550 services. The route last operated in 2022, so this is a restoration, not United's first Denver-Flagstaff service.

Schedule filings can change well before departure. Confirm the flight number, time, operating carrier and aircraft in United's booking result for the selected date. Keep a new route separate from a nonrefundable first-day tour until the ticket is issued.

Denver is useful for connections, but gate distance matters

The restored route adds a United hub option for Flagstaff passengers. A single United itinerary through Denver is easier to recover than two separate tickets because the airline controls both flights and can rebook a missed protected connection.

Denver has three concourses linked by an underground train. Check the current airport maps and United's app on the travel day. A connection that meets the minimum selling time can still feel tight if the inbound flight is late or the gates are far apart.

The last Denver departure is filed for 7:30 p.m. Missing it may mean an overnight wait. Travelers connecting to a fixed next-day park tour should compare the earlier flight or build a Flagstaff buffer night into the trip.

The CRJ-550 has more cabin storage than many regional jets

The CRJ-550 is a 50-seat regional aircraft with dedicated cabin storage, but passengers should still follow United's carry-on rules. Fare type matters. Basic Economy restrictions and checked-bag charges can differ from a standard Economy ticket.

Do not put medication, travel documents, keys, spare batteries or essential electronics in a bag that might leave the cabin. Aircraft substitutions can happen, and a different regional jet may have less room for a full-size roller bag.

Checked-bag inclusion and fees depend on the ticket, status and eligible card benefits. Read the allowance attached to the booking instead of copying a fee from a search result.

Leave enough time at Flagstaff airport

Flagstaff Pulliam Airport's passenger FAQ advises arriving at least 90 minutes before departure. United's airport process guide recommends two hours for domestic travel and lists general check-in cutoffs of 45 minutes with a checked bag and 30 minutes without one.

The 6:00 a.m. flight to Denver requires an early arrival. Confirm the airline counter, parking, rental return and security hours before relying on a pre-dawn plan.

Use the current TSA identification guidance. International visitors taking this domestic flight still need acceptable checkpoint identification.

Choose Flagstaff, Phoenix or another gateway by the whole trip

Flagstaff is closer to Sedona and the Grand Canyon South Rim than Phoenix, but a smaller airport can have fewer replacement seats when weather or a mechanical problem disrupts a flight. Compare the full cost and recovery options, not only the airborne time.

Flagstaff airport lists rental counters, taxis, private cars and shuttles on its ground transportation page. Reserve a vehicle or transfer before arrival and confirm that the desk or driver will still be available for the evening flight.

Visit Sedona's trip-planning page notes the area's limited road approaches. Traffic, construction and weather can change the drive even though Sedona is much closer to FLG than to Phoenix.

The Grand Canyon still needs a separate transfer

The National Park Service lists the South Rim as 81 miles from Flagstaff in its driving directions. The trip usually needs a rental car, a commercial shuttle or an organized tour.

Free park shuttles move visitors around the South Rim. They are not an airport transfer from Flagstaff. Check the current NPS shuttle routes, road conditions and park alerts before departure because seasonal service and bad weather can change the plan.

Avoid attaching a timed tour directly to the arrival flight. A route with only two daily frequencies leaves less room for same-day recovery than a large hub shuttle market.

Mobile data for Denver and northern Arizona

The live United States OpenSim eSIM can support airline alerts, rental-car messages, maps and park updates after landing. The public catalog showed current United States plans on October 9, 2026, with fixed and daily data options. Allowances, speed policies and top-up eligibility vary by package.

Choose the plan after checking device compatibility, trip length and expected use. Install it on reliable Wi-Fi and follow the selected package's activation rule. An eSIM does not replace offline maps or emergency preparation, and cellular coverage can be weaker on remote roads and inside the national park.

Ten questions about United Denver-Flagstaff flights

When do United's Denver-Flagstaff flights start?

United plans to begin on August 10, 2027. Denver Airport lists that date, but the service has not operated yet. Recheck the reservation before arranging a nonrefundable hotel, car or tour.

Will United fly between Denver and Flagstaff every day?

The current filing has two round trips every day and describes the route as year-round. The selection can still change by date, especially before a future route launches.

Are the filed flight times final?

No. The filing currently shows departures at 11:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. from Denver, with 6:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. returns from Flagstaff. Use the issued itinerary as the final planning record.

Who will operate the flights?

SkyWest Airlines is filed to operate the flights for United Express. The planned aircraft is a CRJ-550, so the booking should show United branding and the actual operating carrier.

Can I book the route now?

Tickets have been reported on sale. Search DEN to FLG on United for the intended date and confirm that the result is nonstop. A fare appearing once does not establish availability or price for every day.

Is a short United connection in Denver enough?

It depends on the inbound flight, gates and the consequence of missing the connection. Check the airport map and choose extra time when the Flagstaff arrival connects to a fixed tour or accommodation.

Will a full-size carry-on fit on the CRJ-550?

The aircraft has dedicated storage, but no passenger should treat cabin space as guaranteed. Follow United's size and fare rules, and keep medication, batteries and essential documents in a personal item.

Should I reserve a Flagstaff airport rental car before arrival?

Yes. The airport lists rental agencies in the terminal. Reserve in advance and confirm counter hours, especially for the evening arrival or the early morning departure.

Is Flagstaff the best airport for Sedona?

It can reduce driving, but the best choice depends on fare, schedule, car cost and recovery options. Compare FLG with Phoenix for the actual dates rather than assuming the closest airport produces the easiest trip.

How can I travel from Flagstaff airport to the Grand Canyon without driving?

Commercial shuttles and tours may be available, but they need advance booking and a schedule that fits the flight. The free NPS buses operate at the South Rim and do not collect passengers from FLG.

Before booking

  • Search the exact August 2027 date on United.
  • Confirm that the destination is Flagstaff Pulliam Airport, code FLG.
  • Check the flight number, operating carrier and aircraft on the issued itinerary.
  • Prefer one protected ticket for a Denver connection.
  • Leave a buffer before a fixed Sedona or Grand Canyon booking.
  • Review the fare's carry-on and checked-bag terms.
  • Reserve a rental car or shuttle before arrival.
  • Check Flagstaff weather and road conditions close to travel.
  • Save the itinerary, transfer booking and offline maps.
  • Recheck flight status before leaving for the airport.

Source check for the Denver-Flagstaff route

Denver International Airport supports the August 10, 2027 start. The current airline schedule filing supports the two daily round trips, flight numbers, local times, SkyWest operation and CRJ-550 plan. United's passenger pages support the baggage and check-in guidance.

Flagstaff Pulliam Airport supports the arrival-time and ground-transport details. Denver Airport supports the concourse map. The National Park Service and Visit Sedona support the onward-travel guidance. Public traveler discussions were used to select questions about connections, regional-jet bags, rental cars, weather and car-free park travel. They were not treated as authority for the route or airline rules.

We will update this guide if United changes the launch date, schedule, frequency, aircraft, operating carrier or passenger rules, and again when the first flight operates.
