Busan K-Tour Pass 2026: compare the two options
Busan's new K-Tour Pass costs KRW15,000, but it is a discount bundle rather than a train ticket or an unlimited city-transport pass. Consider it if you have a journey to Busan or a rail itinerary to book. Compare the final cost against buying the same trip separately before paying.
The October 1 government announcement confirms the pilot for international visitors. Its two versions serve different trips: one discounts transport into Busan; the other discounts a separately purchased Korail Pass. Neither turns a coupon into a reserved train seat.

Which K-Tour Pass fits your journey?
The Korea Tourism Organization's current guide sets out the choice:
| Option | Price | Main transport benefit | First check |
|---|---|---|---|
| K-Tour Pass 1 | KRW15,000 | 40% off eligible transport to Busan, capped at KRW24,000 | Whether your route and departure qualify |
| K-Tour Pass 2 | KRW15,000 | KRW24,000 off a Korail Pass | Whether a rail pass beats separate tickets for your itinerary |
Both include one admission from the participating attraction list, partner discounts and a WOWPASS card requiring a separate top-up. The current tourism-board page says the transport coupons and mobile ticket can be used until December 31, 2026.
Choose Pass 1 for a qualifying Busan-bound journey. For a multi-city trip, price every intended rail leg before choosing Pass 2. Adding unnecessary journeys to justify a pass can cost more time and money than the discount saves.
If you have already booked your transport, count only benefits you can still use. Do not assume a new coupon will retrospectively reduce an existing booking.
Calculate the savings before buying
Use the same travel dates, passenger count and ticket conditions in both comparisons:
Net saving = usable transport discount + admission cost avoided + discounts you would use anyway - pass price - extra costs caused by using the pass.
For example, suppose an eligible fare is KRW50,000. A 40% reduction would save KRW20,000, leaving KRW5,000 after the KRW15,000 pass cost, before other benefits. This is an arithmetic example, not a quoted train fare or a promise that a particular departure qualifies.
At that percentage, transport alone reaches break-even at an eligible fare of KRW37,500. Above the discount cap, savings stop rising. A cheaper eligible journey can still work if the included admission replaces something you genuinely planned to buy.
Leave unused cafe offers out of the calculation. Include a taxi taken only to redeem an attraction, any booking fees, and a price difference between the eligible seller and the ticket you would otherwise buy. Use checkout totals, not a headline percentage.
For Pass 2, calculate the combined cost of the discounted Korail Pass and K-Tour Pass. Compare that against separate tickets for the journeys you intend to take. Korail Pass booking guidance also separates buying a pass from reserving the seats for each journey.
K-Tour Pass and Visit Busan Pass are different products
The established Visit Busan Pass has time-based and attraction-count options. Its mobile and physical versions differ too. Do not use its attraction entitlements or activation rules to interpret K-Tour Pass.
For one paid attraction plus an eligible journey into Busan, compare K-Tour Pass first. For several paid attractions, compare the relevant Visit Busan Pass against individual admission tickets. If most of your visit involves walking, food and free sights, neither bundle is automatically good value.
A pass does not tell you whether a timed activity still has space. Resolve the activity reservation before building a whole day around it. A late train, lunch stop or queue can leave you with benefits you cannot reach in time.
Choose one attraction that belongs on your route
The tourism board's participating list includes Songdo Marine Cable Car, Busan X the Sky, SEA LIFE Busan Aquarium and Skyline Luge Busan. Check the exact admission supplied, reservation requirements and current conditions before choosing. Inclusion does not mean every upgrade or experience at a venue is covered.
Pick the activity first, then group nearby plans around it. Avoid crossing the city several times to collect small discounts. Give an outdoor choice a weather backup, and check family age rules before buying a pass for each child.
If your trip includes the film festival, use our Busan International Film Festival guide for screening tickets and venues. A tourism-pass barcode is not a BIFF cinema reservation. For a longer family itinerary, see South Korea with kids.
Book on your phone and keep the vouchers separate
Klook's current listing requires its app or mobile website for booking and redemption. It supplies separate pass, AREX and train/bus vouchers. Pass 1's train/bus coupon is single-use, requires Busan as the destination, and allows one coupon per booking transaction. Its AREX coupon is 50% off, capped at KRW6,000.
Read the selected package's instructions before opening or redeeming codes. Klook's cancellation exclusions include looking up the WOWPASS issuance code, as well as coupon redemption and benefit use. Ask the seller first if you may need a refund.
Check these details while you still have a stable connection:
- The exact product name and version on the order.
- Your passenger details and chosen travel date.
- The discounted journey's final price and confirmed seat or booking.
- The attraction's current entry instructions.
Save confirmation details and support contacts, but keep the live mobile ticket available. The tourism board warns that screenshots or printed barcode images may not be accepted. An offline copy is a useful reference, not a replacement for the required live admission screen.
Load the transit balance, not just the payment balance
WOWPASS's service guide explains that the card's payment balance and Tmoney transit balance are separate. Putting money into one does not automatically fund the other. Check both in the app before your first journey. Follow its current instructions for a supported phone transfer or an in-person transit top-up.
The pass's included card is not prepaid travel credit. Plan a top-up and leave enough time to locate the correct collection kiosk. Carry the passport required by the tourism board's collection instructions. Do not rely on an old photograph or another travel card's pickup counter.
Before leaving your accommodation, open the actual route, check the return service and note your meeting point. Keep a written destination address and a way to pay if your phone runs flat. For a brief visit from Seoul, make the return booking part of the plan before committing to an attraction across Busan.
Mobile data for the live ticket and changing plans
The pass handles discounts and payments; it does not supply mobile data. OpenSim can support the separate task of opening the admission screen, checking your next connection and messaging travel companions away from Wi-Fi.
Our South Korea plans currently include 1GB for 7 days at USD1.40, with top-up eligibility, checked October 5. That gives a short visit a defined data allowance and price. It does not guarantee enough data for streaming, a Korean phone number, or acceptance by a booking service that requires local identity verification.
If your existing roaming allowance already covers the trip at a suitable price, you may not need another plan. Otherwise, check phone compatibility, installation timing and the travel data calculator before choosing.
Sources and updates
Pass facts and seller terms were checked October 5, 2026 against the linked government announcement, Korea Tourism Organization guide, Klook listings and WOWPASS guidance. Prices and redemption conditions can change. Check your selected package before paying, especially for eligibility, coupon use and refunds.
We will update this page for changes to the pilot's validity, transport coupons, attraction list or collection rules. A future expansion to other regions is not a benefit included in today's Busan purchase.
