Cork Film Festival 2026: passes, galas and getting around

Cork International Film Festival runs November 12-22, 2026. Its full programme launched on October 14, and tickets are on sale. Choose your films before buying a multi-film pass: standard passes exclude galas, special presentations, industry events and Culinary Cinema experiences.
That matters for a weekend trip. A pass may suit someone spending several days watching standard screenings; someone planning around the opening film, an awards night or a food event needs a different budget.
The festival takes place across Cork rather than inside one fenced site. You book screenings and events, then move between venues. You do not need an industry credential to start browsing the public programme.
What has been announced for November?
The October 14 programme announcement describes more than 200 films, with Irish features, international cinema, documentaries, shorts and family screenings. New this year, The Bigger Picture adds extended discussions after five selected features.
That is useful if you want more than a film followed by a quick exit. Check the whole event duration before booking something else: a discussion can be part of the reason to go, not an interval you should rush through.
The announcement also describes Culinary Cinema's paired film-and-dining experiences. Check the specific package for food, venue and timing. Do not read an ordinary film booking as a dinner reservation.
Start with the current 71st-edition brochure and the booking links on the festival website. Search results still surface older editions, so check the year and film title together before using any price or timetable.
For a first visit, pick a film you already want to see and one unfamiliar choice. Read the language, subtitle, age and runtime details before paying. A title appearing in the family strand is more useful than guessing suitability from an animated poster.
Which Cork Film Festival pass fits your visit?
The 2026 pass page lists a EUR 1 pass-purchase fee:
| Pass | Listed price | Cost per film if fully used, including that fee |
|---|---|---|
| 5 Film Anytime | EUR 55 | EUR 11.20 |
| 7 for EUR 75 Anytime | EUR 75 | About EUR 10.86 |
| 10 Film Anytime | EUR 99 | EUR 10 |
| CineSaver 15 Film Student/Under 25 | EUR 75 | About EUR 5.07 |
The discounted section specifies under 25s only, with ID required.
Passes cover standard screenings only, one ticket per screening per pass. Galas, special presentations, industry events and culinary experiences are excluded. Couples need separate passes.
Compare eligible, non-clashing selections with single tickets. Check redemption and screening confirmations before considering the itinerary booked.
Gala dates to build a short trip around
The organizer's October 16 gala announcement lists these anchors:
| Date and time | Screening | Venue |
|---|---|---|
| Thursday, November 12, 19:00 | Opening gala: *Lucy Lost* | MTU Cork School of Music |
| Friday, November 20, 20:45 | Documentary gala: *Here We Remain* | Triskel |
| Saturday, November 21, 11:30 | Family gala: *Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey* | The Everyman |
| Saturday, November 21, 19:30 | Awards gala: *Paper Tiger* | The Everyman |
| Sunday, November 22, 14:00 | Animation gala: *Julián* | MTU Cork School of Music |
| Sunday, November 22, 19:30 | Closing gala: *The Debut* | The Everyman |
The opening event includes music and a Q&A. *Lucy Lost* also screens at the Arc on Sunday, November 15, at 11:30; check that screening's conditions separately.
The *Homeward Bound* gala is dog-friendly and relaxed, but dogs cannot go in the Everyman's balcony. Confirm arrangements before bringing one; other screenings have their own rules.
Can you make a full day at Triskel?
Triskel's own 2026 programme gives a useful example for Saturday, November 14:
| Start | Listed event |
|---|---|
| 12:30 | *Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb* |
| 15:00 | Cinema of Foresight talk |
| 17:15 | *Tin Castle* |
| 20:15 | *Born in Flames* |
Triskel directs festival bookings to corkfilmfest.org or the myCIFF app, rather than its ordinary cinema checkout. Do not apply its usual membership prices to the festival by mistake.
This is a same-venue selection, not a recommendation to book all four. Choose two or three, check durations and entry arrangements, and make space for a meal. If the talk is your priority, check its admission product separately from the films.
A same-venue day can make a first visit easier. You learn where to enter and where the facilities are, and a delayed meal is less likely to turn into a hurried journey across town.
Find the right entrance and check access before booking
The festival venue guide identifies these main locations:
| Venue | Location to save |
|---|---|
| Arc Cinema | North Main Street |
| The Everyman | 15 MacCurtain Street |
| Triskel Arts Centre | Tobin Street, off South Main Street |
| Curtis Auditorium, MTU Cork School of Music | Check the auditorium entrance on your booking |
Triskel's route to the main performance floor involves a lift from the foyer and a ramp into the seating area. The Everyman describes step-free access to its stalls, which is not a promise about every seat in the building. Tell the box office your requirements before choosing a place.
The access and inclusion page offers an access contact and advises reserving its limited sensory packs in advance. Check the individual screening's captioning, interpretation and relaxed-screening information. A foreign-language film with English subtitles does not automatically provide captions for sound effects or dialogue in English.
For a wheelchair space, companion arrangement or assistance between venues, get a specific confirmation. Do not rely on a general description of a building as accessible.
Airport buses and moving between screenings
Cork Airport's bus guidance lists Bus Éireann 225 and 226 from Stop A for Cork city, serving Parnell Place and Kent Station. It gives an average 25-minute journey to Parnell Place. Add the wait for the bus, traffic and the final walk; that figure is not an airport-to-cinema guarantee.
The same page lists ticket machines and the TFI Go app, and says purchases from Bus Éireann drivers are cash only. Check your chosen service's current payment options before boarding.
Use the Transport for Ireland journey planner for the exact travel date and your final journey home. It is especially worth checking after an evening event with a discussion or awards presentation, when the advertised film runtime may not cover everything.
For two screenings at different venues, work backwards from the second start. Allow for leaving the auditorium, collecting belongings, walking and finding the next entrance. A gap on a timetable is not necessarily free time for dinner.
Keep a rain layer and a charged phone available for the walks. If you need a step-free route or cannot walk quickly, plan from your own pace rather than copying someone else's tight schedule.
Age limits, late arrival and changing your plans
The 2026 booking conditions say events are 18 and over unless otherwise stated, such as family screenings. Check the actual event's age policy before booking for a teenager.
Late admission is at management's discretion. Tickets generally cannot be exchanged or refunded unless an event is cancelled, rescheduled or significantly changed. Read the conditions before booking a screening close to your flight's arrival or a long-distance connection.
Online screenings have their own viewing windows and are geographically restricted to the Republic of Ireland. They are not automatically an option to watch from your hotel in another country. Check device compatibility and the specific window if you choose online viewing.
Cork tickets and maps on your phone
The official myCIFF app is available for iOS and Android for browsing and booking. Install it before arrival and check that you can access the correct booking account. Keep tickets in the format the issuer supports, with a backup of your booking details.
Save the venue addresses and accommodation location offline. Keep the current schedule available too, but revisit the organizer's listing for changes before leaving. A screenshot will not update when a start time changes.
If your home plan does not cover Ireland, OpenSim Ireland plans provide a prepaid data option for booking messages, maps and transport updates. On October 17, the public catalog listed 3 GB for 15 days at USD 3, with top-up supported for that plan.
Its practical advantage for a short festival trip is a defined allowance with an eligible top-up if you need more, rather than leaving data costs unplanned. It does not include cinema admission, bypass online-screening restrictions or guarantee a signal inside every venue. Check your existing roaming allowance first.
Estimate your needs with the travel data calculator, check phone compatibility and read the installation timing guide. For a longer family holiday around the screenings, use our Ireland with kids guide.
Sources and updates
The linked 2026 organizer, venue and airport guidance was checked on October 17, 2026. Per-film figures assume full use and include the pass fee. Check the live booking quote and programme before paying. Update this guide for material ticket, programme, venue, access or transport changes; after November 22, treat this edition as historical.
