easyJet adds five UK routes for summer 2027

easyJet has put five new UK routes on sale for summer 2027. Three leave Southampton for Edinburgh, Malaga and La Rochelle. The other two connect London Gatwick with Cagliari and London Luton with Rennes.

The new flights do not all suit the same trip. Southampton to Edinburgh is daily, while the four international routes operate two or three days a week. Check the return day, total ground journey and baggage cost before treating the launch fare as the cheapest option.

The practical answer: choose the route by its weekly pattern as well as its airport. A low outbound fare can lose its advantage if the return day forces an extra hotel night or a long trip to another airport.

This page was checked on October 18, 2026. The flights are on sale for travel in 2027, so schedules, fares and airport transport should be checked again before departure.

The five new easyJet routes at a glance

easyJet's October 15 announcement gives the launch date and weekly pattern for each route.

Southampton to La RochelleMay 29, 2027Tuesday and Saturday
London Gatwick to CagliariJune 1, 2027Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday
London Luton to RennesJuly 1, 2027Thursday and Sunday

The airline advertised one-way lead fares from Β£32.48 on Southampton to Edinburgh and La Rochelle, Β£53.48 to Malaga, Β£51.48 from Gatwick to Cagliari and Β£43.48 from Luton to Rennes. Those were launch examples, including taxes and subject to availability. They are not fixed fares for every date.

The Southampton Airport announcement independently confirms its three additions and says easyJet will offer 11 routes from the airport in summer 2027.

Match the operating days to the trip

The daily Edinburgh service is the most flexible of the five. It removes the Belfast self-transfer shown on some earlier easyJet searches between Edinburgh and Southampton and may also be useful for an Isle of Wight or cruise journey. It remains a domestic flight, so compare the full air fare with rail and account for travel to both airports.

Malaga and La Rochelle both use a Tuesday and Saturday pattern. That supports three-night, four-night and seven-night trips without changing airlines, but it leaves less room if a meeting, wedding or sailing has a fixed arrival deadline. Do not build an unprotected same-day connection around a twice-weekly flight.

Gatwick to Cagliari runs on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. That creates more length combinations, including a short break from Thursday to Saturday, but the useful option depends on the local departure times shown for the chosen date.

Luton to Rennes runs on Thursday and Sunday. It is naturally suited to a long weekend, yet a missed Sunday return could mean waiting for the next easyJet service or buying a different route home. Travel insurance and a realistic airport buffer matter more when the next same-route flight is several days away.

Plan the airport journey before buying

Southampton Airport has an unusually simple rail connection. The airport says Southampton Airport Parkway is 99 steps from the terminal, with lifts on the footbridge, and lists a seven-minute fastest journey from Southampton city centre. Check the first or last train for the actual flight time rather than relying on the headline journey time.

For Malaga, Aena says the C1 train links the airport with Malaga centre in about 12 minutes and Maria Zambrano station in about eight minutes. It also runs toward Benalmadena and Fuengirola. A late arrival still needs a timetable check because the railway does not operate all night.

La Rochelle Airport currently directs city passengers to Illico 1b from Monday to Saturday and D9 on Sundays and public holidays. It also lists regional coach routes toward Ile de Re. The new easyJet flight operates on Tuesday and Saturday, but the published bus timetable can change by season. Check the 2027 version before booking accommodation around a tight connection.

Cagliari Airport has a rail station within a short walk of the terminal. Trenitalia currently describes a journey of under 10 minutes to central Cagliari, usually with frequent daytime trains. That makes a city stay straightforward, but a Sardinia beach trip may still need a regional train, coach or car after reaching the centre.

Rennes Airport says bus C6 runs toward the city and connects with metro line B at Saint-Jacques Gaite. The current airport guidance describes a 10 to 20 minute bus frequency. Treat that as planning context, not a promise for July 2027, and check the STAR timetable for the travel date.

Price the fare with the bags you will take

Every easyJet passenger currently gets one small under-seat cabin bag. The airline's cabin-bag rules set a maximum size of 45 x 36 x 20 cm, including handles and wheels, and a maximum weight of 15 kg. A large overhead cabin bag or checked bag is not automatically included with every fare.

Add the required bag before comparing the new service with another airline, rail or a package. Paying for a suitcase can change which airport or fare is best. If an easyJet holidays package is under consideration, read the package inclusion separately. The airline's launch release says its holiday packages include 23 kg luggage, but that statement does not turn a flight-only fare into a checked-bag fare.

Online check-in currently opens 30 days before departure and closes two hours before the scheduled flight. Recheck after any booking change and use the airport-specific bag-drop deadline. The relevant 2027 deadline, gate and terminal instructions will be in the live booking and boarding pass.

Treat a connection as a separate decision

A direct new route can remove a connection, but it does not protect a separate onward ticket. If Southampton is a bridge to a cruise, ferry or another flight, allow for baggage collection and a disruption that could erase the planned buffer.

easyJet's FlightConnections service is a distinct booking path. Its current guidance says passengers collect and recheck hold baggage, check in for each flight and pass through security again. Connection protection depends on the selected service and terms. Two flights bought independently do not gain protection simply because both are operated by easyJet.

For the same reason, do not assume easyJet will move a separately booked hotel, train, ferry or event ticket after a schedule change. Check cancellation terms before tying a non-refundable ground booking to a future flight.

Mobile data for Malaga, La Rochelle, Cagliari and Rennes

A Spain OpenSim eSIM can support maps, rail times and accommodation messages after arrival in Malaga. France covers the French destinations in this announcement, while an Italy eSIM can be used for Cagliari and onward travel in Sardinia.

Travelers combining countries can compare an eligible Europe OpenSim eSIM with separate country plans. Check the live coverage, allowance, validity, network, hotspot field and top-up field before purchase. Install on an unlocked compatible phone while reliable Wi-Fi is available, and keep the usual SIM available if the airline or bank sends verification texts to that number.

An eSIM provides ground-based mobile data on supported networks. It does not provide inflight Wi-Fi, protect a connection or change an airline booking.

Ten questions about easyJet's new summer 2027 routes

When do the five new easyJet routes start?

Southampton to Edinburgh starts March 28, Malaga May 1 and La Rochelle May 29. Gatwick to Cagliari starts June 1, while Luton to Rennes starts July 1, according to easyJet's October 15 release.

Are all five routes daily?

No. Southampton to Edinburgh is daily. Southampton to Malaga and La Rochelle run Tuesday and Saturday, Gatwick to Cagliari runs Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, and Luton to Rennes runs Thursday and Sunday.

Are the advertised launch fares still available?

They may be available on selected flights, but they were one-way examples subject to availability. Search the exact dates and add seats or bags before comparing the final price.

How close is Southampton Airport Parkway to the terminal?

The airport describes the station as 99 steps from the terminal, reached by a footbridge with lifts. Check engineering work and the live train time for the day of travel.

What ID is needed for Southampton to Edinburgh?

easyJet requires photographic identification for domestic flights. Use the airline's current travel-document list and make sure the name matches the booking. International routes require the documents that apply to the traveler and destination.

Does a standard easyJet fare include an overhead cabin bag?

Not automatically. The current basic allowance is one small bag measuring no more than 45 x 36 x 20 cm that fits under the seat. A large overhead bag depends on the fare, seat or extra purchased.

Can I add hold luggage after booking?

Yes, easyJet lets passengers manage bags after booking, subject to its current charges and deadlines. Recheck the boarding pass after changing the booking.

Can I connect from an easyJet flight on a separate ticket?

You can plan a self-transfer, but independently bought tickets are not automatically protected. Allow time to collect bags, change terminal if needed, pass security and meet the next flight's cutoff.

Which new destination has the simplest city transfer?

Malaga and Cagliari both have direct airport rail links with short published journey times. Rennes and La Rochelle have public buses. The best option depends on the arrival time and the final address, so check the dated timetable.

Will one eSIM cover Spain, France and Italy?

An eligible Europe package can cover all three countries. Compare its allowance and validity with the current Spain, France and Italy country plans before choosing.

Book the return pattern, not just the outbound fare

These five routes add useful direct choices, especially from Southampton. The strongest booking is the one whose return day, baggage allowance and airport transfer fit the whole trip.

Before paying, search both directions, price the bags, check the 2027 airport timetable and leave space around any separate connection. We will update this page if easyJet changes a launch date, operating pattern or route status.
