Frontier Orlando to Colombia flights: dates, frequency and booking checks

Frontier Airlines plans to begin nonstop flights from Orlando to Medellin, Bogota and Cartagena in December 2026. The three routes would be Frontier's first scheduled service to South America, but they are not operating yet and each remains subject to government approval.

The launch is staggered. Orlando to Medellin is due first on December 10, followed by Bogota on December 14 and Cartagena on December 19. The schedules are not identical, and Frontier's announcement does not include flight numbers, departure times or a settled Orlando terminal.

The short answer: Frontier has announced three planned Orlando to Colombia nonstops. Medellin starts December 10 with daily service. Bogota starts December 14 with six flights a week and is scheduled to become daily on March 6, 2027. Cartagena starts December 19 with one flight a week. All three routes are subject to government approval, so confirm the exact operating status, time, terminal and fare in Frontier's live booking record before building the rest of a trip around one.

What Frontier has announced

Frontier labels all three as new nonstop routes and says service is subject to government approval. The airline also says frequencies and times can change. That makes the dates a launch plan, not a guarantee that every listed flight will operate exactly as first announced.

The airport codes are important. MDE is Jose Maria Cordova International Airport, which serves Medellin. BOG is El Dorado International Airport in Bogota. CTG is Rafael Nunez International Airport in Cartagena. Search with the airport code as well as the city name so you do not mistake a connecting itinerary for the announced nonstop.

Bogota is not daily at launch

Frontier's route table describes Bogota as daily, but its footnote says the initial schedule is six times a week. Daily service is planned from March 6, 2027. For travel between December 14 and March 5, search the actual dates rather than assuming the flight operates every day.

Medellin has the strongest initial frequency at daily service. Cartagena is the least flexible at one flight a week. A weekly route can make a short trip awkward if the outbound and return dates do not line up, and a cancellation can leave fewer same-airline recovery options. Compare the complete itinerary, not just the outbound fare.

Cali was requested earlier but is not in this launch

Frontier's August regulatory filing covered four proposed Colombian cities: Bogota, Medellin, Cartagena and Cali. The September 10 launch announcement names only the first three. It does not announce an Orlando to Cali start date.

That difference is worth keeping visible because older reports and social posts still describe a four-city plan. Anyone traveling to Cali should search current schedules and expect a connection unless Frontier later publishes a separate launch. A regulatory request does not create a bookable route by itself.

Treat the introductory fares as a narrow offer

The $99 Bogota, $129 Cartagena and $169 Medellin figures are introductory one-way fares, not a promise for every departure. Frontier says the offer must be purchased by 11:59 p.m. Eastern time on September 16, 2026, for qualifying nonstop travel on selected days from January 14 through April 5, 2027. March 23 through March 30 is blacked out.

The airline says a round trip is not required and lists government taxes and fees as included in the displayed fare. Optional services can still change the final total. Check the live price after adding the bags, seat choice and flexibility you actually need. The launch dates in December are outside the stated promotional travel window, so do not expect the headline fare on the first flights.

Wait for the live itinerary to settle the missing details

Frontier's announcement does not provide flight numbers or local departure and arrival times. It also does not assign a terminal at MCO. Do not borrow details from another Frontier international route or from the earlier regulatory filing.

Before paying, make sure the final booking shows:

• MCO and the intended Colombian airport code;
• a nonstop itinerary rather than a connection;
• Frontier as the operating carrier;
• the local date and time in both directions;
• the fare or bundle and every included bag;
• the change and cancellation terms; and
• enough time for any separately ticketed connection.

Orlando International Airport has more than one terminal complex and two international arrivals facilities. Use the terminal and gate in the current airline record, then check again before departure. Airport pickup plans should use the final flight number and arrival terminal, not a general airline listing saved months earlier.

Budget for bags before comparing the fare

Every Frontier ticket includes one personal item. Frontier's current limit is 14 by 18 by 8 inches, including handles, wheels and straps. A carry-on can be up to 24 by 16 by 10 inches and 35 pounds. A standard checked bag can be up to 62 linear inches and 40 pounds.

Carry-on and checked bags are not automatically included with every fare. They may be purchased separately or included through a bundle, and Frontier says prices vary by trip and purchase timing. For an international connection involving another airline, do not assume one bag rule or through-checking applies. If the tickets are separate, leave time to collect and recheck bags and understand which airline must help after a delay.

Check in early enough for an international flight

Frontier opens check-in 24 hours before departure. Its current rule requires passengers to have a boarding pass and any checked bags accepted at least 60 minutes before an international flight. Boarding ends 20 minutes before departure.

Those are cutoffs, not recommended arrival times. Frontier advises arriving two to three hours early during busy periods. An international departure also adds document checks, and an app boarding pass does not remove the need to present a passport or other required documents when asked.

Every passenger, including a child, needs the documents required for international air travel. A passport card is not a substitute for a passport book on this trip. Travelers should check the rules for their own nationality, residence and length of stay rather than applying a U.S. citizen rule to everyone in the booking.

Prepare Colombia entry information before the airport

Migracion Colombia's Check-Mig service lets travelers preload arrival or departure information from 72 hours until one hour before travel. The authority describes it as free, online and currently optional, while recommending it to speed the immigration interview. If a form is submitted with an error, the current guidance says to make a new registration rather than edit the old one.

U.S. citizens visiting for tourism or business generally do not need a Colombian visa for a stay of 90 days or less, but they still need a valid passport and may be asked for an onward or return ticket. Different rules apply to other passports, longer stays, work and dual U.S. and Colombian citizens. Use Migracion Colombia's entry guidance and the authority responsible for your passport before departure.

Keep the Check-Mig confirmation, accommodation address, return booking and travel insurance details available offline. A mobile connection is useful after landing, but it does not replace admissible documents.

Leave a real buffer for an Orlando connection

An itinerary sold on one ticket may provide rebooking protection that separate tickets do not. If you plan to reach MCO on another flight, do not build the connection around Frontier's 60-minute check-in cutoff. You may need to change terminals, collect a checked bag, clear another security queue and complete an international document check.

The same caution applies on the return. Passengers connecting after arriving in the United States normally clear immigration and customs, collect checked bags and recheck them before the onward flight. Leave enough time for that process and ask the ticketing carriers whether the connection is protected.
