Head Trip 2026: parking, shuttles and wristband guide

Head Trip takes place at Empire Polo Club in Indio on October 10 and 11, 2026. Before leaving, resolve any missing passes, register your own wristband and choose your return transport. Will Call is at Indian Wells Tennis Gardens, not the festival entrance, so a missing delivery changes your arrival route. Official event and collection information.

The useful distinction this weekend is between getting to Indio and getting through the right entrance. A hotel address, a festival address and a ticket-collection address may be three separate stops. Save all three before the drive.

What time do parking, gates and shuttles open?

The organizer's current timetable separates parking from venue entry. All times below are local to Indio, and the organizer says they can change. Head Trip hours.

ServicePublished timeWhat to plan
General and preferred parkingOpens 1 p.m. both daysAllow time to park and walk
Festival venueOpens 3 p.m. both daysParking access is not festival entry
Shuttles toward the venueDepart from 3 p.m.Check your own stop before leaving
Music curfewSaturday night 1 a.m.; Sunday night midnightSaturday's finish falls early Sunday
Return shuttlesEnd 60 minutes after the musicHead to your return line after the show

Do not build a tight arrival plan around an assumed queue length. Ticket collection, a hotel stop, road restrictions and security each need their own buffer. If you want an early set, finish those errands before joining the entry queue rather than trying to fit them into the same hour.

Which roads are closed around Head Trip?

The City of Indio's October 7 notice, published by the Greater Coachella Valley Chamber of Commerce, says Avenue 50 between Madison and Monroe is fully closed through October 19. Additional festival-area closures apply October 9 through 11. Pedestrian festival access is prohibited on Monroe between avenues 49 and 52, and Madison between avenues 50 and 52. City road-closure notice.

The notice's October 12 return to normal traffic patterns does not erase the separately stated Avenue 50 closure. An earlier KESQ report gave 6 p.m. October 18; check current traffic controls before relying on a reopening time. Follow the event map and staff rather than an old Coachella route or the shortest walking line in a map app.

Check the destination pin before starting navigation. A ride to the venue will not solve a ticket-collection problem at Indian Wells.

Should you drive, take a shuttle or use rideshare?

OptionUseful whenMain trade-off
Free day parkingYou have a sober driver and want your own carFirst come, first served; keep time for the walk and exit
Any Time, Any Line shuttleYour lodging is near a listed stopYou still need to reach that stop and catch the return service
RideshareYou do not want to driveUse the designated lot and allow for late-night waiting

The official shuttle page lists park-and-ride stops at Indian Wells Tennis Gardens and Palm Springs Convention Center, plus hotel stops in Indio, La Quinta, Palm Desert, Rancho Mirage and Palm Springs. On October 9, it displayed the Any Time, Any Line pass at $100 with service fees included; its scheduled-departure shuttles were marked sold out. Confirm availability at purchase.

Pick a stop that fits where you are staying. A hotel appearing on the list does not make parking there available to every shuttle passenger. The two expressly marked park-and-ride locations are the clearer starting points if you need to leave a car.

For rideshare, the organizer identifies Lot 1D at Avenue 49 and Monroe, with the Yellow Path linking it to the festival. It warns that waits are highest from midnight to 2:30 a.m. Day-parking vehicles left after 2 a.m. can be towed. Parking and rideshare instructions.

Agree on a return plan before the first set. A friend collecting you and an app-booked driver should follow their respective official pickup instructions; neither should improvise a roadside stop outside the gates.

Where is Will Call if your wristband has not arrived?

Will Call is at Indian Wells Tennis Gardens, 78-200 Miles Avenue, Indian Wells, CA 92210. The official hospitality FAQ says orders not received by October 7 should be switched to Will Call through AXS Order Support. It also confirms that the Tennis Gardens is a festival shuttle stop. Official Will Call guidance.

Contact support now if your order is missing. Keep the order confirmation and ID ready, confirm collection requirements and opening hours, then arrange your onward journey. Do not assume that a receipt will let you board from another shuttle stop before collecting the pass.

Ticket-account problems go to AXS; shuttle-specific inquiries have a separate contact on the Head Trip contact page. Sending the right team your order number is more useful than buying another pass before the original order is resolved.

Who should register each Head Trip wristband?

Each person should register only the wristband they will wear. The organizer requires registration in the Head Trip app, using the wearer's legal name, a unique email address and phone number, and the six-letter code on the wristband. Registration is one-time and cannot be changed. Official registration rules.

Buying the group's passes does not mean registering all of them in the purchaser's name. Give each wearer their own band and let them complete the process. If registration fails or a band is already registered, contact AXS rather than trying another identity or relying on an unofficial workaround.

The organizer's arrival checklist says to register before putting the band on. Complete this while you have a reliable connection, then keep your confirmation accessible.

What ID and entry rules should you check?

Head Trip is an 18+ event. The official FAQ requires physical government-issued photo ID. Bring the original valid document; a photo of it is not a sensible fallback for an entry rule that requires the physical ID.

General admission does not include leaving and returning freely; the organizer lists exceptions for campers and ADA access. Vendors accept cards or mobile payment rather than cash. General entry information.

Review the current permitted-items list linked from the official arrival checklist before packing. Do not borrow another festival's bag or bottle rules. Carry a payment card as a backup to a phone wallet, and plan food, weather protection and charging without assuming you can return to the car mid-show.

Camping and accessibility need separate plans

The camping rules distinguish a camping site from an event pass. Day parking is not overnight accommodation. Campers should check their own vehicle check-in and exit restrictions before promising friends a late drive out; pedestrian re-entry and moving a camping vehicle are different questions.

The accessibility page describes grass terrain and potentially long distances between stages. Accessibility wristbands are issued at onsite services hubs, and the organizer does not rent mobility devices onsite. Use that page and the current map to arrange the route you need instead of assuming every entrance or transport option has the same access.

Save maps and return details before arriving

Install the official Head Trip app for current set times, maps and notifications. Before the trip, save a screenshot of your shuttle stop, your hotel's address and the route back from the venue. Photograph your parking-lot sign and record the colored path you used.

Choose a specific meeting place with friends. "Near the entrance" is too vague when people leave through different paths. Agree on a fallback time and place if messaging is slow. Offline screenshots help with static directions, but they will not receive a changed set time, traffic alert or driver message.

Bring a charged power bank that meets the current entry rules. Turn down screen brightness and avoid spending the final battery reserve filming when you still need navigation home.

Mobile data for visitors arriving from abroad

If your usual plan already includes suitable US data, keep using it. Otherwise, OpenSim United States plans let you choose a separate allowance for maps, shuttle information and messaging. The live catalog checked October 9 listed a top-up-eligible 1GB, seven-day plan at $1.80 and a top-up-eligible 5GB, 30-day plan at $6.80, before any checkout fees or currency conversion.

That choice is useful for a short festival trip or a longer California itinerary: buy for the whole journey rather than repeatedly paying for data you do not need. Compare the total with your home operator's offer before deciding. No plan guarantees fast service in a crowded festival, and mobile data does not replace a physical wristband, shuttle pass or ID.

Check phone compatibility, installation timing and the travel data calculator before buying. If you need your existing number for verification messages, review the calls and SMS guide; do not assume a travel data plan supplies a local number.

Sources and updates

Event, transport and admission details were checked October 9, 2026. The organizer's current instructions and onsite staff take precedence over this guide. We will update this page if published access, shuttle or event arrangements change, and retain its 2026 scope after the weekend rather than present these rules as next year's plan.

This is independent visitor guidance, not an official Head Trip announcement or sponsorship.
