Iceland Airwaves takes place in Reykjavik from Thursday, November 5, to Saturday, November 7, 2026. The timetable is available, and separately ticketed concerts extend the wider programme to November 4 and 8. Choose the performances you want before deciding which pass and flight dates to buy.

Airwaves is a city music festival rather than a weekend spent at one arena. Its current venue list names seven official venues. An evening can involve a church, a club and a larger hall, with admission queues and walks between them. Trying to see every artist usually means spending too much of the night moving.

The organizer now publishes individual set times. That makes trip planning more concrete, but some listings remain marked TBC. Check again close to departure, especially if one performer is the reason you are flying to Iceland.

Which Airwaves ticket should you buy?

The official ticket page advertises the following options. These rates were checked on October 14, 2026; confirm the selected product and final total in the official shop before paying.

OptionAdvertised priceWho should consider it?
Three-day festival passISK17,400Visitors attending across November 5-7
Festival day passISK11,900Someone with one chosen festival day
Plus upgradeISK14,000 additionalAn existing admission holder considering priority queues
Pro passISK37,900Visitors wanting the conference, festival admission and Plus benefits

At these advertised rates, two day passes cost ISK23,800, more than the three-day pass. Compare the current total if you intend to attend twice. A lower starting price elsewhere in a mixed ticket listing does not necessarily describe the pass you need.

Plus is an upgrade, not admission on its own. It requires an eligible festival, day or travel-package ticket. The organizer's FAQ says priority access cannot get you into a venue that has reached capacity. It may suit someone who values queue priority, but it does not reserve a seat for a specific artist.

For a conference-free music trip, compare festival admission before choosing Pro. Paying for conference access makes sense only if you intend to use it. When considering a flight package, compare its stated ticket inclusions with booking flights and admission separately, including baggage and the dates you need.

The ticket page carries an undated price-increase banner. Check the live shop rather than treating that banner as a deadline for your own booking day.

Which extra concerts need separate tickets?

A three-day festival pass is not a ticket to every event associated with Airwaves. The extra-events programme lists these larger concerts around the festival:

ConcertPublished date and startVenue
ShygirlWednesday, November 4, 8pmReykjavik City Hall
Dadi Freyr with the Iceland Symphony OrchestraThursday, November 5, 7pmHarpa
The StreetsSunday, November 8, 8pmHarpa

The official Tix listing identifies all three as separately ticketed concerts. A passholder discount is different from inclusion in the festival pass. Follow the relevant concert link and check the conditions for your ticket type.

This matters for flights. Arriving on Thursday misses Shygirl on Wednesday; leaving on Sunday morning misses The Streets that evening. If you want a Sunday concert, allow for another night or an appropriately timed departure rather than treating November 7 as the end of your own trip.

Thursday's Harpa concert also overlaps the festival evening. Decide whether you prefer the orchestral performance or an evening moving between the main venues. Avoid paying for two simultaneous plans simply because both appear under the Airwaves name.

The wider programme includes film and other music events with their own admission labels. Read each listing rather than assuming that every daytime event is free or that every extra event requires another purchase.

Wristband collection: what is confirmed and what needs checking?

Bring the ticket confirmation and photo identification. The accreditation page says the ticket name must match the person collecting it, and wristbands are fitted in person. You cannot send a friend to collect yours.

The page currently names the Parliament Hotel lobby, Thorvaldsenstraeti 2-6, beside NASA, as the pickup location. However, its collection grid pairs Wednesday with November 5, which matches 2025 rather than 2026. Do not use those hours to plan a 2026 arrival. Ask the organizer to confirm this year's location and opening times before departure.

If several tickets carry one buyer's name, check the group collection instructions and attend together. Resolve a name mismatch with the ticket seller before reaching the desk. Downloading a ticket does not mean you can skip collecting a wristband.

Leave an arrival buffer for luggage, food and collection. An airport landing time is not the time you will be ready to enter a downtown venue. This is particularly important if your first chosen performance starts early in the evening.

Build an evening around the published set times

The schedule uses GMT and lets you filter performances. These examples show why the current timetable is more useful than a general statement that music begins after 7pm:

PerformancePublished slotVenue
Andervel, Thursday November 56:50pm-7:30pmFrikirkjan
MAMMUT, Thursday November 59:30pm-10:10pmKolaport
YARD, Thursday November 511:30pm-12:10amKolaport
Yaelokre, Friday November 66:50pm-7:30pmFrikirkjan
Agent Fresco, Friday November 610:10pm-10:50pmCity Hall

YARD's Thursday listing ends after midnight on Friday. Keep that distinction in mind when arranging a meeting or saving a calendar entry. Set times can change, and this table does not guarantee admission.

Pick one performance you most want to see, then work outward. Leave room before it for a queue. Put a second-choice show nearby into your plan so a full room does not leave you searching the whole programme outside in the rain.

A comfortable first night might have one early performance, a proper meal and two later choices. Staying for consecutive acts at one venue can be more rewarding than leaving every set halfway through. Allow an unfamiliar artist time to hold your attention.

If two shows meet at the same minute, you have a clash, even if their venues look close on a map. The walk is only part of the transfer; leaving a room, collecting a coat where storage exists and joining another queue also take time. There is no verified universal queue-time estimate for this year's edition.

Where are the seven official venues?

Use the organizer's venue page for the current list and entrances. Group your choices geographically rather than bouncing across downtown for every performance.

Area for planningVenues and listed addresses
Around the lakeCity Hall, Tjarnargata 11; Idno, Vonarstraeti 3; Frikirkjan, Frikirkjuvegur 5
Central streetsNASA, Thorvaldsensstraeti 2; LEMMY, Austurstraeti 20; Rosenberg, Naustin
Near the harbourKolaport, Tryggvagata 19

LEMMY's listing tells visitors to use the side entrance. Rosenberg occupies the former BIRD location. Check the actual entrance pin, not just the first result for a venue name.

The organizer describes the listed venues as accessible. If you need step-free entry, a particular toilet arrangement, seating or assistance, confirm those facilities with the venue before choosing a tightly timed route. A general accessibility label does not answer every visitor's needs.

For under-18 visitors, the venue guidance requires an accompanying adult guardian and compliance with the venue's conditions. Check the chosen performance before buying. For a trip centred on children rather than late-night concerts, use the separate Iceland with kids guide.

Can you enjoy Airwaves without a festival pass?

The festival FAQ says selected local off-venue performances are open without a wristband, subject to age and capacity restrictions. That gives a visitor a way to discover music without committing to three late nights. It does not mean the main festival lineup is free.

Check each off-venue listing for its date, entrance and conditions. A free performance may still involve waiting or a full room. Keep an alternative nearby, and do not promise a friend that a particular international artist will appear in a free daytime slot unless the current programme names that performance.

If your companion is more interested in Reykjavik than in the festival, plan some independent daytime activities and agree a meeting place. Buying them admission solely to keep the group together can be an unnecessary expense.

Getting from Keflavik airport to Reykjavik

Check the airport code on your flight. Keflavik International Airport, KEF, is not the same location as Reykjavik's city airport.

Flybus says its airport service operates in connection with arrivals and takes approximately 45 minutes to the BSI bus terminal. That is an estimate for the coach journey, not a promise of reaching your accommodation 45 minutes after landing.

The operator's pickup and drop-off guidance distinguishes a BSI transfer from a hotel or designated-stop connection. With the accommodation option, passengers change to a smaller bus at BSI. Your lodging may use a nearby designated stop rather than a pickup directly outside the door.

For the return, check the collection point and the pickup time on your own booking. A hotel pickup time is different from the main coach's BSI departure. Flybus's trip-planning page gives approximate return journey times of 45 minutes from BSI and 1 hour 15 minutes with accommodation pickup, subject to conditions.

Allow additional time for the airport's check-in requirements. After a late Saturday set, an early Sunday airport departure may leave little time to sleep. Compare that flight saving with the cost of an extra night and the music you would miss.

Choose lodging by the walk back from your final venue and the airport pickup arrangement, not just the word "central." Save its address and entrance instructions before arriving. If a late walk is unsuitable for your group or needs, arrange a return option in advance.

November weather and what to carry between venues

Check the Icelandic Meteorological Office near your travel date, and use SafeTravel for current travel alerts. An October storm warning is not a forecast for November 5-7.

Plan for time outside as well as time inside crowded music rooms. A weather-resistant outer layer and shoes comfortable for repeated walks are practical choices. Carry only what you need; storage arrangements vary by venue. Keep a charged phone and a way to protect it from rain.

Avoid scheduling a long excursion immediately before the first performance you care about. If weather slows the return, you may lose that show. A nearby daytime plan leaves more room for a meal and a rest before the evening.

For bag and equipment rules, the organizer FAQ restricts large bags, selfie sticks and DSLR cameras without the required approval. Check current conditions before bringing photography equipment rather than relying on advice from an older edition.

Useful digital tools and offline preparation

There is no native festival app according to the organizer's FAQ. Use the web schedule and keep it available in your browser. The page supports local favourites; do not assume choices will transfer to another device or browser.

Save a short list of performances and entrances separately. A downloaded timetable or screenshot is a backup, but a live schedule is the place to check changes. Keep ticket emails and identification requirements accessible without depending on a venue's Wi-Fi.

Use your map app to save accommodation, BSI and your venue entrances. Confirm which offline functions that app supports before leaving home. Agree a meeting point with friends if messaging stops working. For an excursion beyond the city, SafeTravel provides current road and travel information; mobile data does not make a closed road usable.

Mobile data for the festival trip

Tickets, venue maps, airport changes and group messages create a modest but useful need for connectivity outside accommodation. You do not need to buy another plan if your existing mobile tariff includes suitable Iceland roaming at no extra cost. Check its allowance and conditions first.

For a visitor whose home plan charges extra, OpenSim Iceland plans provide a country-specific option with a stated allowance. The public catalog checked on October 14 listed a 5GB, 30-day plan at USD4.76, with top-up support. Its useful advantage for this trip is a known data budget and an eligible top-up path while you use travel services around Reykjavik.

That is not a claim that it is the cheapest plan, that every OpenSim package can be topped up, or that a phone will work inside every venue. Check the chosen package's activation and service details. Data access does not include event admission or bypass a capacity limit.

Use the travel data calculator if you expect video uploads or hotspot use to raise consumption. Check phone compatibility and installation timing before purchasing. A saved map and ticket backup remain useful even with an active plan.

What to check again before departure

Open the current timetable for cancellations, changed rooms and TBC slots. Confirm 2026 wristband collection details, the admission scope of any extra concert, and the airport return booking. Then check the weather for the actual dates you will be outside.

This guide will be updated for material changes to the 2026 schedule, tickets, collection arrangements or transport guidance. Prices and published details were checked on October 14, 2026; your chosen ticket and transport booking govern what you have bought.
