Jeju Olle Walking Festival takes place on November 5-7, 2026, using routes 19 and 20 across three walking days. Early registration has closed. Shuttle reservations have a separate October 19 deadline and may close earlier, so check transport availability before choosing accommodation.

The World Trails Network invitation confirms the dates. This is a walking trip with village activities along the way, rather than a race or a requirement to complete the island's entire trail network. Choose one day if that fits your fitness and holiday; three consecutive stages need more recovery time.

The most useful planning distinction is between joining the public entertainment, buying a souvenir registration package, and reserving a meal or bus. They are not one interchangeable ticket.

What can you still book after early registration?

The organizer's booking conditions, checked October 14, separate these options:

OptionCurrent published conditions
Early registration and meal ordersClosed October 9
Shuttle reservationUntil October 19, subject to earlier closure; KRW4,000 each way; under-13s free
On-site registrationCash only, KRW35,000 regular or KRW30,000 discounted; limited by souvenir availability
Public entertainmentOpen to people who have not registered; souvenirs are for registered participants

Meal and shuttle purchases are prepaid through the Olle Pass app, not sold on site. The published refund period ends October 19. Read the conditions for your actual purchase before cancelling.

Do not interpret limited on-site registration as an opportunity to buy lunch or a return-bus seat. If you missed meal ordering, arrange your own food rather than counting on leftover portions. A souvenir package is optional; a workable journey home is not.

If the app does not let you complete the booking, contact the foundation through the official page before paying for non-refundable accommodation. A listed reservation period does not confirm that a particular departure still has seats or that every international payment method works.

Compare the three festival walking stages

These are the organizer's festival sections, not a promise that you will walk every kilometre of each ordinary numbered route. Distances and walking times below are published estimates; stops and queues add time.

DayFestival start and finishPublished distanceWalking estimate
Thursday, November 5Jocheon Manse Dongsan to Dongbok-ri Sports Center13 km4-5 hours
Friday, November 6Dongbok-ri Sports Center to Jeju Batdam Theme Park11.5 km3.5-4 hours
Saturday, November 7Jeju Haenyeo Museum to Jeju Batdam Theme Park, reverse direction12.9 km4-5 hours

November 5: Hamdeok, Seoubong and Bukchon

The day-one programme combines coast and local history. The route passes Hamdeok Beach and Seoubong before continuing through Bukchon. Its listed 13 km should guide your effort planning, rather than an older summary giving a shorter distance.

At Jocheon Manse Dongsan, the Hado-ri haenyeo choir is scheduled for 09:00-09:20, followed by the opening ceremony at 09:20-09:40. If those performances matter to you, compare their times with your shuttle's arrival rather than assuming any morning bus reaches the start before the programme begins.

The Bukchon history session is scheduled for 13:00-14:00 at the Neobeunsungee April 3 historic site. Treat it as a place for listening and remembrance. Do not plan it as a quick photo stop between performances, and ask about language support if you need an English explanation.

November 6: Gimnyeong and the stone-wall landscape

The second stage crosses parts of routes 19 and 20 through woodland, village streets and farmland before reaching the coast around Gimnyeong. It ends at Jeju Batdam Theme Park rather than returning to the morning start.

South Carnival is listed at the finish from 14:30 to 15:00. This can fit a day with music after walking, but leave enough time to reach your boarding point afterward. Buying a return ticket does not turn the festival into a circular walking route.

Friday has the shortest published walking estimate of the three days. That makes it worth considering if you want more time for breaks, not proof that it is suitable for every beginner or accessible throughout.

November 7: start at the museum and walk in reverse

The final day's programme starts at Jeju Haenyeo Museum and heads toward Woljeong and Batdam Theme Park. The morning support and souvenir-collection booth is at the museum. Do not go to the usual forward starting point merely because your saved map says Route 20.

The closing ceremony is scheduled for 15:00-15:15. BMK's performance is listed for 15:30-16:00, which overlaps the last return-shuttle window. Decide in advance whether you are leaving for the reserved bus or arranging a different return. You cannot reasonably plan to watch the whole performance and catch a bus whose final departure is earlier.

Reserve the return before building an afternoon plan

The official shuttle timetable lists these return windows:

DateDeparture pointPublished departure window
November 5Dongbok-ri Sports Center16:00-16:20
November 6Jeju Batdam Theme Park15:00-15:20
November 7Jeju Batdam Theme Park15:30-15:50

The timetable requires ID or a passport for ticket collection and says there is no personal luggage storage on the buses or at the venue. Lost tickets cannot be replaced on site. Leave your suitcase at accommodation under an agreed storage arrangement.

For November 5, the airport pickup is Coach Parking Zone C10, 08:50-09:10, with a published 35-minute journey. This is a specific festival departure, not an all-day airport transfer. A flight landing shortly beforehand leaves too much to go wrong; arriving the previous day is the less rushed choice.

The general planning page and individual activity listings contain later finish times. Use your booked departure and the current shuttle table for the journey home, not the latest entertainment time on another page.

Where should you stay without a car?

Choose a base by its connection to a confirmed pickup point or walking start. A room described as being in Jeju City may still require a separate morning journey to the bus. Save that first leg as carefully as the festival route itself.

Jeju City suits a trip built around the organizer's city or airport pickups. A northeast-coast base can reduce repeated journeys across the island, but only if you can reach that day's start and return from its finish. Ask accommodation staff about your precise location and dates rather than requesting a general estimate for "the Olle trail."

Seogwipo can work if you have a confirmed festival transfer, but it is not automatically the most convenient base for this event just because other popular Olle walks are nearby. Compare the door-to-pickup journey, the reserved bus and the final walk to your room.

For a three-day visit, keeping one base can avoid checking out before each walk with luggage you cannot store on the shuttle. If you move accommodation, arrange the bags separately. A rental car also needs a plan for getting back to where you parked, since the stages are one-way.

Shoes, weather and shorter walks

The organizer's planning guidance advises warm comfortable clothing, rain protection and walking shoes with grip for Jeju's changeable autumn weather. Bring water in a reusable bottle and carry your rubbish out.

Its waymarking guidance uses blue arrows for the forward direction and orange for reverse. Follow the day's festival instructions and any signed detour. On Saturday, checking the direction before setting off matters more than following the first familiar marker you see.

The route-start information stones show toilet locations. Check them before leaving the start, especially with children or anyone who needs regular stops. The existence of marked wheelchair-accessible sections does not establish that all three festival stages are step-free. Ask the foundation about the exact section, surface, toilets and transport assistance you need before committing.

A coastal walk can still be a long day on your feet. If your group is unsure about the distance, discuss a shorter section and a separate pickup with the organizer. Do not assume the festival bus can collect you wherever you decide to stop. For a broader trip with children, use our South Korea family travel guide.

Olle Pass, local maps and a saved return plan

Olle Pass handles festival information and bookings. The organizer lists Korean, English, Japanese, Chinese and Spanish versions. Install it before departure and check that you can find your booking, rather than leaving the first login for a busy trailhead.

The trail's English planning guide recommends Naver Map or Kakao Map with English options for trail and bus planning. Save the exact start, finish, accommodation and pickup point. A generic search for Route 19 or 20 is less useful than the named festival venue.

Keep screenshots of the return window and your reservation reference, plus a written accommodation address. Screenshots help when a page will not load, but they are not a substitute for any live ticket validation the organizer requires. Charge your phone before leaving and keep enough battery for the return journey.

Mobile data for Jeju and the rest of South Korea

OpenSim is useful if you want a separately budgeted allowance for maps, festival pages and messages rather than relying on your home carrier's roaming tariff. Its South Korea catalog listed a 5 GB, 30-day plan at US$5.40, with top-up support, when checked on October 14. Confirm the selected plan and current price on the South Korea eSIM page.

That can suit a Jeju visit followed by Seoul or Busan without buying data for each city. If your existing mobile plan already includes enough South Korea roaming at no extra cost, keeping it may be simpler. Neither option guarantees a taxi, a bus reservation or uninterrupted reception along every path.

Use the travel data calculator to allow for uploads and video as well as navigation. Before paying, check phone compatibility and the installation timing guide. Mobile data does not change the festival's booking rules or provide a Korean number unless your selected plan explicitly includes one.

Sources and the next booking check

Dates, registration conditions, stage descriptions and shuttle details were checked against the linked organizer pages on October 14, 2026. Recheck availability before the October 19 shuttle deadline, then check the latest route, programme and weather notices before November 5. Published walking times and bus durations are estimates, not personal pace or arrival guarantees.
