Haus der Berliner Festspiele entrance and forecourt in March 2019

Jazzfest Berlin runs October 29-November 1, 2026, with concerts at Haus der Berliner Festspiele and other west Berlin venues. Buy tickets for the particular events you want; the organizer also offers a 20% package saving on a combination of five or more concert tickets, subject to availability. Free community events in Moabit give you another way to take part without booking a full weekend of concerts.

Choose your kind of evening before choosing your ticket. A long main-stage programme, a small club performance and a free neighbourhood session are different experiences. Trying to fit all three into one night can leave you travelling between rooms while the music you came for is already underway.

Which part of Jazzfest Berlin suits your trip?

The current festival calendar includes concerts, films and community activities. Start with one event you genuinely want to hear, then add another only if the timing works.

Your preferenceWhere to beginWhat to check
A substantial concert eveningMain-stage programmes at Haus der Berliner FestspieleFull programme, seat and finishing time
A smaller jazz-club settingA-Trane or Quasimodo listingsSeparate ticket, capacity and access
A low-cost introductionFree community concerts and sessionsExact address, admission conditions and time
Music with a family afternoonCommunity Saturday at KULTURFABRIK MoabitAge guidance for each activity
Improvisation late at nightThe dated Quasimodo jam listingStart time and a workable journey home

Listen to a little of the artists' work before booking. This programme includes experimental and improvised music as well as familiar ensemble formats. You do not need to know every name, but choosing by sound is more useful than assuming every event will resemble a relaxed background-jazz bar.

The five-ticket discount is not an all-access festival pass

The organizer's ticket page offers 20% off a combination of five or more concert tickets, applying to standard and reduced prices, subject to availability. Use its package builder to check which selections qualify and what you will pay.

This is a booking offer for selected tickets, not permission to walk into every room. Check your basket's events, dates and ticket categories. If booking for a group, confirm the qualifying combination rather than assuming five people at one performance automatically meets every package condition.

A discount can still cost more than the trip you wanted. If you only want two concerts, compare those two tickets with the package total before adding extra events to reach the threshold. Include the time between venues, meals and your last useful transport connection in that comparison.

Evening box offices open one hour before the event at the respective venue. The daytime box office is at Gropius Bau, Niederkirchnerstraße 7, not automatically at the concert hall. Check its published opening days before making a special trip; Tuesday is closed.

Reduced tickets have eligibility and allocation limits. Carry the required proof, and contact the ticket office before purchase if arranging a companion ticket or an access requirement. Do not assume a general student or disability label guarantees the same price everywhere.

Concert choices for October 29-31

These examples show why the event title matters more than the date alone. Times are local Berlin time; check your selected ticket again before travelling.

DateProgrammeVenue and published start
October 29EROSÃO Percussion Trio, DREAM BABY DREAM, Anthony Braxton Septet and Alexander Hawkins Willow MusicHaus der Berliner Festspiele, main stage, 18:00
October 29Karoline Wallace: EonQuasimodo, 22:30
October 31Christian Lillinger, Tomeka Reid Quartet and CHICAGO UNDERGROUND DuoHaus der Berliner Festspiele, main stage, 18:30
October 31Jam-Session #2Quasimodo, 23:45; free admission

The opening programme combines percussion, film and ensembles in one evening. Braxton's new septet uses four saxophones and three tubas; Hawkins brings his large-ensemble Willow Music. Book it as an evening programme rather than assuming you can arrive for one performer at the headline start time.

For Saturday, the current main-stage listing gives 18:30. Leave enough room afterwards if considering the 23:45 jam session. Free admission does not reserve space, and the distance between venues is only part of the transfer: you still need to leave the first room and enter the next.

For the smaller Thursday concert, use the Karoline Wallace listing to check the event and official booking route. Do not carry an old club timetable into festival week.

Free community events in Moabit

The 2026 community programme includes free lunch concerts and neighbourhood sessions with Jazz Institute Berlin students. The sessions welcome interested people who want to participate, but check each activity's instructions rather than assuming every workshop is open for drop-in registration.

In particular, the children's ImproLabs involve participating schools. They are not a promise that a visiting family can enrol on arrival. A public performance or listed community activity may be a better fit than trying to join an established workshop group.

On October 31, Community Saturday at KULTURFABRIK Moabit, Lehrter Straße 35, has a programme with free admission:

TimeActivityWho it may suit
16:00UNDINI Uncut, a 45-minute shadow-theatre performanceListed for children aged four and up and their families
17:00Soundtrack to a Coup d'EtatA 150-minute documentary, original version with English subtitles
20:00Kiez Session #5 in the caféVisitors interested in the neighbourhood music session

Choose a part that suits your group rather than treating this as one continuous family show. The long documentary and the children's theatre have different audiences. Our Germany with kids guide can help with the rest of a family itinerary.

Save the right address for each venue

The organizer's venue directory separates the main concert locations from the community spaces. Put the complete address into your map.

VenueAddress
Haus der Berliner FestspieleSchaperstraße 24, 10719 Berlin
A-TraneBleibtreustraße 1, 10625 Berlin
QuasimodoKantstraße 12a, 10623 Berlin
Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial ChurchBreitscheidplatz, 10789 Berlin
KULTURFABRIK MoabitLehrter Straße 35, 10557 Berlin

Do not confuse Haus der Berliner Festspiele with Gropius Bau, the daytime ticket-office location. And do not plan a Moabit afternoon as though it is in the same building as your evening concert.

For a short stay, choose accommodation after mapping your booked events. Being close to one venue may be convenient, but compare the return from the last event of the night before paying extra for a particular neighbourhood.

Accessibility differs between the concert rooms

The current festival access page describes step-free access to the ground-floor foyer and auditorium at Haus der Berliner Festspiele, with a lift serving upper foyers and the side stage. An accessible toilet is on the ground floor. Contact the ticket office about the appropriate space before booking.

A-Trane has accessible entry but no accessible toilet. Quasimodo is not step-free accessible. These differences can determine which programme is practical for your visit, even when the music and times both appeal.

The organizer lists accessible entry and an accessible toilet at KULTURFABRIK Moabit. Its church guidance describes a ramp between the new church and old tower, plus an accessible toilet reached by lift. Confirm any particular assistance needs rather than treating the word accessible as a complete description.

For arrival at the main hall, check the lift status as well as the station name. Spichernstraße's U3 platforms are described in the access guidance, but a published lift installation is not proof that it will be working on your date. Leave a fallback route and contact the venue if a disruption affects your arrival.

Berlin transport: check the late return and airport zone

BVG Fahrinfo combines journey planning, live information and ticket purchase. Save the venue and accommodation as destinations, then search for the day and time you intend to travel. A daytime route is not automatically your late-night route.

If arriving at BER Airport, the BVG tourist FAQ specifies an ABC ticket for travel into the city centre. An AB ticket for central Berlin is not enough for that airport journey. Check any pass you already hold before buying a second ticket.

Digital tickets must be activated before the journey begins when activation has not already happened at purchase. For paper tickets requiring validation, use the validator before boarding the U-Bahn or S-Bahn. Keep the actual valid ticket available, not just a payment confirmation.

Plan one early return and one later alternative before committing to a jam session. Include the walk to the stop and any transfer. A late concert is easier to enjoy when you already know whether you will use public transport, walk a suitable route or pay for another option.

Eat before a long concert programme, carry a layer for outdoor queues and check the venue's current bag policy. Ask about storage before bringing luggage or a large instrument case. A neighbourhood session inviting participation does not establish that every concert room has storage for your belongings.

OpenSim data and offline preparation for festival week

Save your concert confirmations, addresses and chosen journeys before leaving Wi-Fi. Keep the issuer's accepted ticket format available and bring a charger or power bank if the phone will handle both admission and transport. If your group splits between programmes, agree where and when to meet afterwards.

Mobile data helps check a changed connection, a lift disruption or a programme update. It cannot guarantee reception in a crowded room, create a seat at a sold-out concert or fix a ticketing-app outage. Keep the important details available offline even with a data plan.

OpenSim's Germany catalog listed 1GB for seven days at US$1.14 and 3GB for 15 days at US$3.00 on October 18, with top-up supported on both. A small fixed allowance is useful for a short Berlin stay when you mainly need event information, maps and messages. If Germany is already included in your carrier's allowance, you may not need another plan.

Compare current Germany eSIM plans, estimate your usage with the travel data calculator, and check phone compatibility and installation timing before departure.
