The NFL's first regular-season game in Australia puts the San Francisco 49ers against the Los Angeles Rams at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Friday, September 11, 2026. Kickoff is 10:35 a.m. AEST, but the Stadium Campus opens at 7 a.m. The early start is deliberate: in the United States, the same game begins Thursday evening.
The short answer: stay within a direct walk or train ride of the MCG, add the mobile ticket to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet after its barcode activates, and take public transport. There is no public event parking. Bring no bag if possible because this event uses the NFL clear-bag rules, not the normal assumptions visitors may have from an AFL match.

Netflix carries the game internationally, while Seven Network carries it in Australia. Visitors attending in person should work from Melbourne time. A Thursday date on a US team page is not a second event.
Buy only through an approved ticket route
Ticketmaster is the exclusive seller for general tickets. Sportsnet Holidays is the official ticket-and-hotel partner, and On Location handles official hospitality options for fans traveling from the United States. The NFL warns that tickets from unauthorized sellers cannot be verified and may fail at the scanner.
The official ticket pages showed standing room from AUD 95 and general allocated seats from AUD 140 when checked on August 22. Fees can apply and live inventory can move. Those are starting prices, not a promise that the cheapest category remains available.
General purchases are limited to six tickets per transaction. Hospitality purchases allow up to ten. Ticketmaster says orders that exceed its limits may be cancelled, including linked orders using the same customer or payment details.

Current public discussions include holders who could transfer or manage tickets but could not use ordinary resale for a particular package.
Prepare the mobile ticket before leaving the hotel
Every guest needs a mobile ticket. Screenshots, saved barcode images and copied QR codes will not be accepted. The NFL says barcodes became active on August 11 and can be opened through NFL OnePass or the authorized Ticketmaster account.
Do this while the phone has a stable connection:
- Download NFL OnePass and sign in with the account connected to the order.
- Confirm that every ticket appears and that the seat or standing category is correct.
- Add the ticket to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet.

Do not pack from memory after an AFL game at the same stadium. The NFL's event policy controls this match. Diaper bags are not generally accepted unless medically necessary, so families should use an approved clear bag and confirm any medical exception before travel.
Public transport is the practical route to the MCG
There is no public event parking at the stadium. The NFL says extra trains and trams are planned every two to four minutes and publishes a maximum daily public-transport fare of AUD 5.70 for the event period. The useful approaches are simple:
- From the city center, walk from Federation Square through Birrarung Marr and over William Barak Bridge. The official estimate is 15 to 20 minutes to the W1 entrance.
- Richmond Station is about a five-minute walk from the E2 entrance.
- Jolimont Station is about a two-minute walk from the N1 and N2 entrances.
- Tram 70a stops near the southern entrances. Trams 48a and 75a stop near Jolimont and the northern entrances.
- Bus 246 on Punt Road leaves a short walk through Yarra Park to the eastern entrances.
The gate color printed on a ticket helps with the final stadium approach, but it does not lock the holder to one Stadium Campus security entrance. There are eight campus entry points around Yarra Park. Use the least awkward approach for the hotel or station, then follow signs after screening.
Rideshare drop-off and pickup areas are on Lansdowne Street north of the MCG and Olympic Boulevard south of it. Expect the postgame pickup to be slower than the inbound ride. Walking back to the CBD or taking a train from Richmond can be easier than waiting beside a closed road.
Getting from Melbourne Airport to the game area
Melbourne Airport does not have a direct passenger train to the CBD in the current public-transport instructions. SkyBus City Express runs between terminals 1, 3 and 4 and Southern Cross Station. Melbourne Airport currently lists services from 4 a.m. to 1 a.m., about every ten minutes at peak times and every fifteen minutes outside the peak.
SkyBus uses its own ticket, not myki. From Southern Cross, continue by city train, tram or a walk through the CBD. Travelers using public bus routes 478, 479, 482 or 901 need a myki instead. Read the operator's current timetable if the flight lands late because the airport's general transport page and its dedicated bus page do not use identical service-hour wording.
Do not book a flight that lands on Friday morning and leaves no room for immigration, bags, traffic or a delayed bus. The Stadium Campus opening at 7 a.m. is useful for people already in Melbourne. It is not a realistic airport transfer deadline after a tight international arrival.

The Kickoff Festival is the official tailgate alternative
The NFL Kickoff Festival runs at Melbourne Park from Thursday, September 10 through Saturday, September 12. It requires its own ticket. Melbourne Park is roughly 400 meters from MCG Gates 1, 6 and 7 via the pedestrian bridges, although the postgame crowd can turn a five-minute map line into a longer walk.
Thursday includes the Patriots-Seahawks season opener watch party, Peking Duk, Kita Alexander and fan activities.
