Paris RER B in November: CDG trains, closures and alternatives

RER B is not closed to Charles de Gaulle Airport throughout November. The weekend works affect the separate Mitry-Claye branch; evening works affect the CDG route from 22:45 on specified dates. On Sunday, November 8, a local strike also requires passengers to change trains at Gare du Nord. Check your date, branch and full journey before leaving for the airport.
All times below are Paris local time. A flight landing at 22:30 does not put you on the station platform at 22:30. Leave time for disembarkation, border checks where applicable, bags and the trip through the terminal.
Which November change affects your journey?
The RATP line B notices distinguish these arrangements:
| Travel date | Affected section | What to plan for |
|---|---|---|
| Sunday, November 8 | North and south services split at Gare du Nord during local industrial action | Change between underground and surface trains; confirm the airport-bound departure board |
| November 7-8 and 21-22 | Aulnay-sous-Bois to Mitry-Claye, all day | Replacement buses on the Mitry branch, not an all-day closure of the CDG branch |
| November 9-10, from 22:45 | Chatelet-Les Halles to CDG 2-TGV and Mitry-Claye | Plan the replacement journey rather than a through airport train |
| November 12, from 22:45 | Same northern section | Evening replacement arrangements |
| Weekdays November 16-30, from 22:45 | Same northern section | Evening work continues into December; check the exact travel date |
The listed November evening programme continues on weekdays through December 11. This table does not promise normal service on every unlisted date: other work or an incident can change the journey. In particular, do not turn a broad month-long summary into an assumed last-train timetable.
Sunday November 8: where to change at Gare du Nord
The operator's November 7-8 strike notice says northern trains use surface platforms 32 and 33, with southern services arriving underground. Passengers travelling across Gare du Nord must change trains.
If you arrive from Luxembourg, Saint-Michel or another southern RER B station, follow the temporary signs toward the surface departure for the airport. If you arrive from CDG and continue south, expect the reverse transfer. The photograph above shows the ordinary underground area, not Sunday's temporary surface departure.
Read the destination display before boarding. A train for Mitry-Claye is not a train for CDG. Allow additional transfer time with luggage, children or reduced mobility; a normal through-journey estimate may not include the walk and wait involved.
The notice forecasts disruption north of Gare du Nord and normal service to the south. It is a dated service plan, not a guarantee that any particular train will run. Check the departure board again at the station.
Does the Mitry-Claye closure stop airport trains?
Not by itself. RER B divides north of Aulnay-sous-Bois. One branch goes to Mitry-Claye; the other serves Charles de Gaulle Airport.
The weekend work notice closes Aulnay-sous-Bois to Mitry-Claye in both directions on November 7-8 and 21-22, with the B3 replacement shuttle. B3 is the Mitry replacement, not an airport shuttle.
For a CDG journey, check the airport branch separately. On November 8, that includes the strike-related Gare du Nord change. For November 21-22, consult the dated planner again rather than carrying the November 8 strike arrangement forward for two weeks.
After 22:45: use the replacement itinerary, not a guessed last train
Bonjour RATP's November and December guide confirms evening interruptions, replacement buses and additional regular bus service. Its route search lets you specify the date and travel time and account for disruption.
Search from your actual starting point to your terminal or accommodation. Expand every interchange. If the route includes Metro 4, a walk and a replacement bus, save all three parts rather than only the first train departure.
The RER B evening-work page identifies B4 for the airport replacement route via Gare du Nord. Follow temporary street-level signs and ask staff for the current stop. Do not use an ordinary bus pin or an old station photograph as a boarding instruction.
The 22:45 work boundary is not a promise of a 22:45 departure from every station. Nor does the morning restart mean the first train reaches your terminal early enough for any flight. Use the dated timetable, then work backward from your airline's check-in, bag-drop and gate deadlines.
Replacement buses and ordinary buses have different ticket rules
The evening-work page requires a ticket valid for RER B on its replacement buses and says a Bus-Tram ticket is not valid there. For an airport RER journey, it identifies the special Paris Region-Airports ticket.
That differs from ordinary airport bus routes such as 9517. Do not assume that because both vehicles are buses, the same ticket applies. Show staff the full route if you are unsure, and retain your ticket through the end of the journey.
Check current pass coverage and ticket conditions in the official app before paying. A replacement journey is not a reason to buy a second fare automatically, but an unrelated alternative may need a different ticket.
What replaced RoissyBus from Opera?
The old Opera RoissyBus is no longer an option. Ile-de-France Mobilites confirms it ended on March 1, 2026.
Its alternative is express bus 9517 via Saint-Denis-Pleyel to Roissypole, with a Bus-Tram ticket or an eligible subscription. Metro 14 can form part of a journey to Saint-Denis-Pleyel; it does not run directly to CDG.
Compare the complete route, including the Metro connection, bus wait and transfer from Roissypole to your terminal. The authority's advertised bus running time is not a door-to-terminal guarantee. Check the last bus for your boarding stop and direction rather than treating a general service-hours range as its exact departure.
If a public-transport alternative leaves too little time, compare a prearranged road transfer or an airport-area overnight stay. Confirm the destination terminal, luggage capacity, accessibility and total price. Do not assume a self-booked taxi will be reimbursed because rail work is taking place.
Luggage, accessibility and a late arrival
Transilien's line B guide distinguishes the CDG 2-TGV station for Terminal 2 from Aeroport Charles de Gaulle 1 for Terminals 1 and 3, and lists stations with assisted access. Choose the correct station before judging the connection time.
For a wheelchair, mobility scooter or assistance requirement, confirm the whole amended route with the operator. Step-free access to a railway station does not establish the boarding arrangements for a temporary bus stop or replacement vehicle.
Keep essential medication, documents and a charger with you rather than in luggage you cannot easily reach. If a flight delay pushes you past the planned train or bus, recheck the route before leaving the airport. An itinerary saved before takeoff may no longer be usable.
Apps, offline copies and mobile data
Use Bonjour RATP or Ile-de-France Mobilites for the dated route and live alerts. Save the terminal, accommodation address, ticket and interchange instructions offline. A screenshot helps when your connection fails, but it will not update when a platform or stop changes.
For visitors who need a separate data allowance, OpenSim France plans listed 1GB for seven days at USD1.40 and 3GB for 15 days at USD3.40 in the public catalog on November 7, both with top-up support. The short-validity option can suit a brief Paris visit when you mainly need transport updates and messaging. Confirm the selected plan's current price and terms before buying.
If your home plan already includes sufficient French data, it may be the better choice. Mobile data cannot reserve a train, guarantee a replacement connection or change a ticket's validity.
Use the travel data calculator, check phone compatibility and review when to install an eSIM. For the stay itself, see the France with kids guide or the Paris Photo visitor guide.
Sources and updates
RATP supplies the dated line notices. The RER B operator's strike and works pages distinguish the Gare du Nord transfer, Mitry branch and replacement-ticket rules. Bonjour RATP provides the route-planning guidance; Ile-de-France Mobilites explains the RoissyBus withdrawal and 9517 alternative. Transilien identifies the airport stations.
Update this guide if the operator changes the November service plan, replacement stops or ticket arrangements. After November 8, recheck whether the strike-related surface-platform transfer has ended; do not carry it forward without a new notice.
