Smart Infinity launches ROAM+ annual roaming wallet
Smart Communications has added ROAM+ to its Infinity plans in the Philippines. The feature gives members one pool of international roaming data at the start of the contract year, with 365 days to use it across multiple overseas trips.
The idea is useful for someone who travels often and wants the usual Smart number to stay active. The smallest plan gets 6GB for the year and the largest gets 40GB. Those figures also show the limit: this is a fixed annual allowance, not unlimited travel data.
The short answer: ROAM+ removes the need to buy a new data pass before every trip, but Smart has not yet published enough detail to judge every route. Confirm the country list, partner network, speed policy, hotspot use and post-wallet charges before departure. Roaming eSIM is the clearer data-first option when you want a destination allowance, validity, price and network list disclosed before checkout.
How the Smart Infinity ROAM+ wallet works
Smart announced ROAM+ on August 18, 2026. The company calls it the Philippines' first annual roaming wallet. According to the launch coverage, the data is credited at the beginning of the member's contract year and remains available for multiple international trips during the next 365 days.
The allocation depends on the Infinity plan:

The monthly and trip figures are simple divisions, not Smart usage rules. The wallet is described as one annual pool, so a member can spend more on one trip and less on another.
Members keep their main Smart number, manage service on one bill and check the remaining ROAM+ balance in the Smart App. That makes the offer different from a typical travel eSIM, which usually adds a separate data profile and does not provide ordinary calls or SMS on the home number.
Is 6GB to 40GB enough for a year of travel?
It depends on how the phone is used. Navigation, messaging, ride booking and light browsing consume far less data than video, cloud photo backup, laptop tethering or app updates.
A 6GB wallet can cover several short trips if the traveler uses hotel Wi-Fi for large downloads and switches off photo backup. It is a poor fit for someone who streams video, works through a hotspot or expects to use the phone as the only connection for weeks at a time.

The announcement says the wallet works for international travel, but the reviewed launch pages do not publish a complete ROAM+ country and partner-network list. That information matters more than the headline allowance.
A traveler should ask Smart to confirm all of the following for the exact destination:
- Is the country included in ROAM+?
- Which partner networks can the phone use?
- Does the same wallet work after crossing into a second country?
- Are 5G and LTE both available on the selected partner?
- Is there a separate fair-use or speed rule?
Do not assume that a general Smart roaming page proves ROAM+ coverage in every listed market. The product-specific country list is the safer authority. Take a screenshot or save the support confirmation before departure.
Confirm activation before leaving the Philippines
Smart's postpaid roaming instructions tell customers to make sure roaming is active before travel. Infinity users are directed to call *800 a few days before the flight.
That instruction is worth following even though ROAM+ is described as ready across the contract year. A data balance and an active roaming service are separate things. The phone also needs data roaming enabled on the Smart line after arrival, plus a supported partner network.
Use this departure checklist:
- Confirm that ROAM+ appears in the account and note the available balance.
- Ask Smart whether the destination and any transit country are included.
- Confirm roaming status through

Smart warns that using data abroad without an applicable roaming package can trigger its daily Roam Surf charge. That answer can prevent a surprise bill.
Does ROAM+ include calls, SMS and OTP messages?
The announcement specifies international roaming data. It does not say that ordinary roaming calls or SMS are included in the annual allowance.
Keeping the Smart number active can still be valuable for incoming texts and account verification. However, receiving an OTP is not proof that it is free, and making or answering a normal call can have a separate roaming rate. Check voice and SMS pricing for the destination before using the dialer.
Internet calls and messages use the data wallet. WhatsApp, Messenger, Viber and similar apps can work over ROAM+ data, subject to local network conditions and the remaining allowance.

ROAM+ can still be the better fit for an Infinity member who values one bill, keeps the Smart number in daily use and travels often enough to use the annual pool. ROAM+ is a sensible change to premium roaming because the allowance survives beyond one journey. It removes repeated purchases for members who take several light-data trips each year.
The missing product detail is just as important. A 365-day wallet is only useful when the next country is included, the network is known and the traveler understands what happens after the balance reaches zero. Confirm those points through Smart, then compare the remaining annual allowance with a destination or regional Roaming eSIM.
Whichever option you choose, keep offline maps and booking details, prevent the wrong SIM from using mobile data and test the connection before leaving the airport.
