The Story of Studio Ghibli is coming to the West Lawn at Gardens by the Bay, Singapore, for a run that continues through July 4, 2027. The world premiere is announced for December 18, 2026, while current AsiaOne coverage says public admission begins on December 19. Until the ticket listing resolves that difference clearly, ordinary visitors should book December 19 or later rather than assume the premiere date is a public session.

The organizer's announcement, repeated by The Straits Times and several local guides, describes December 18 as the world premiere and the start of the run. AsiaOne states that public admission begins on December 19. Those statements can both be true if December 18 is reserved for a premiere or limited opening, but the public material reviewed for this guide does not explain the schedule.

For a normal visit, select a dated session that the official ticket partner is actively selling. Do not book a non-refundable flight around December 18 merely because it appears as the exhibition's headline start date. This guide uses December 19 as the public Event schema start until the organizer or ticket partner publishes a clear public session on December 18.

What will be inside the Studio Ghibli exhibition?

M Experience describes a walk-through exhibition with 12 recreated worlds. Seven films have been named in the announcement:

These are announced elements, not an independent review of the completed Singapore installation. The show does not open for several months, and no visitor has yet published a reliable account of the final route, dwell time or queue pattern.

Is this the same exhibition that was at ArtScience Museum?

No. The 2024 and 2025 ArtScience Museum show was called *The World of Studio Ghibli*. It occupied 11 galleries at a different venue and ended in February 2025. The new show is called *The Story of Studio Ghibli*, is produced by TSUKURU and M Experience, and is being built at the West Lawn at Gardens by the Bay.

For this venue, Bayfront MRT station (CE1/DT16) is the clearest starting point. Gardens by the Bay says West Lawn is about a five-minute walk from Bayfront MRT. From Exit B, follow the underground linkway and continue toward the gardens across the Dragonfly Bridge or Meadow Bridge.

Gardens by the Bay MRT station (TE22) is also an official garden entrance. Exit 1 reaches the grounds beside Satay by the Bay, but it is not the shortest route identified on the West Lawn venue page. Use it only when that line suits the journey or the event publishes a dedicated entrance on the southern side.

Save the official Gardens by the Bay map and the final ticket entrance before setting out. Searching only for "Gardens by the Bay" can route you to a conservatory, car park or entrance that adds an unnecessary walk.

From Changi Airport

The MRT is the predictable low-cost option, but it requires transfers and enough time for luggage. A taxi or booked ride can be simpler for a group, although road time varies. Do not travel straight from the airport with large cases unless the event confirms its bag and storage rules. Hotel luggage storage is safer than arriving at an exhibition entrance with a suitcase.

Leaving after the final session

The published closing time is 7 p.m., which is before the main late-evening transport problem. Even so, save the route back to Bayfront station and check the Land Transport Authority's live service information. Gardens by the Bay can host other events at the same time, and a crowd leaving another attraction may change the easiest path.

Will rain or heat affect the visit?

West Lawn is an outdoor event site. The announcement calls the attraction a walk-through experience, but the reviewed material does not say whether the full visitor route, queue and holding areas will be enclosed or air-conditioned. Do not describe it as an indoor exhibition until the organizer confirms the build.

Singapore's rain and humidity can affect the walk to the entrance even if the display itself is covered. Check the official myENV forecast and lightning alerts before leaving. Carry water and a compact rain layer unless the final prohibited-item list says otherwise. If severe weather is forecast, use the ticket partner's current change or cancellation terms rather than relying on a general Gardens by the Bay policy.

What are the bag, photography and tripod rules?

No event-specific bag, photography or tripod policy was found in the accessible launch information. The garden's rules for another attraction and the former ArtScience Museum exhibition do not answer this question.
