Yeosu World Island Expo 2026 guide: tickets, shuttles and ferries
The 2026 World Island Fair Yeosu Korea opens on September 5 and runs through November 4. Its main venue is in the Jinmo district of Dolsan, with separate programs at Expo Ocean Park, Gaedo and Geumodo. Those four locations do not work like one compact exhibition ground. A first-time visitor should choose the main venue for one full day and add an island only on a separate day.

The short answer: arrive in Yeosu with one venue already chosen. For the main site, take a free shuttle from Yeosu Expo Station, the intercity bus terminal, City Hall or another published hub. Driving directly into Dolsan can add one to two hours on a busy day. Gaedo and Geumodo need their own ferry plan, and some sailings switch to a different seasonal timetable on September 15.
This guide was checked on September 4, the day before opening. The organizer can change shuttle frequencies, ferry service, programs and weather operations after visitors begin arriving. Open the official schedule and transport page again on the morning of the visit.

Is the Yeosu World Island Expo worth a trip from Seoul?
It makes sense for travelers who want more than another Seoul attraction and can give Yeosu at least one night. The main venue combines island ecology, culture and future transport exhibits with outdoor spaces and performances. Yeosu also offers a useful contrast to the capital: the event is built around a working coastal city and actual island routes.
A same-day return from Seoul is possible only as a long main-venue day. It leaves little room for a missed connection, a late shuttle, a performance running over or a crowded evening exit. It does not make sense for Gaedo or Geumodo. Stay two nights if an island is part of the reason for going.
The expo is less convincing for a traveler with only one spare day in Korea who is not interested in maritime culture, environmental exhibits or island travel. In that case, the transport time may outweigh the visit. Do not add Yeosu only because a general travel list calls the event unmissable.

Jinmo is the default first-day choice
The main venue contains the Theme Island, Marine Ecology Island, Future Island, Culture Island, Treasure Island, International Exchange Island and Dining and Market Island areas. The names are broad, but the choice is simple: use Jinmo when the exhibition itself is the priority.
Do not treat the 9 p.m. closing time as the last time to arrive. Published admission ends at 8 p.m. A night ticket starts at 5 p.m., which can work for a performance and a smaller selection of halls, but it is not a cheap way to see the whole expo in three hours.
Expo Ocean Park is beside the station
Yeosu Expo Station is next to Expo Ocean Park. It is not next to the Jinmo main gate. This distinction matters when booking a train that arrives shortly before a timed program. A visitor can walk into the Ocean Park area after the train, but still needs a shuttle or road transfer to Jinmo.
The event calendar lists conferences, exhibitions and related city programs at this sub-venue. Check the date rather than assuming every attraction runs throughout all 61 days.
Gaedo and Geumodo are not side trips after Jinmo
Gaedo and Geumodo are real island journeys. Gaedo services run from Baekya and Yeosu. Geumodo services run from Singi and Yeosu. The official passenger-ship page shows short crossings from the nearer ports, but reaching the port and matching the return sailing are part of the trip.
Several ferry rows change from a summer to winter pattern on September 15. Save the timetable for the actual date, then confirm it with the operator because wind and sea conditions can interrupt service. A screenshot from early September is not enough for an October visit.

The advance presale ended on May 31. Do not rely on an older guide that presents the presale price as the current walk-up rate. The official ticket page links to current online sellers and gives an offline organizer contact.
Children aged 6 and under and adults aged 75 and older are among the published free-admission groups. Disability and resident discounts have specific conditions. Carry the document that proves eligibility and ask the official seller when the English wording does not settle a family or disability category.
An admission ticket does not automatically prove that a campsite, ferry, yacht trip or limited-capacity activity is reserved. Open the exact activity record before building the trip around it.
How to reach Yeosu and the main venue
By train
The organizer publishes KTX and other rail options to Yeosu Expo Station from the Seoul area. Search the actual date through Korail because the event page is a planning aid, not a live guarantee of seats or disruption status.
From Yeosu Expo Station, use the direct Jinmo shuttle for the main venue. Use the separate Ocean Park route if the central waterfront or that sub-venue is the first stop. The station name creates an easy mistake: Yeosu Expo Station is not the Jinmo gate.
By intercity bus
The published shuttle network includes Jinnam Stadium and Yeosu Central Bus Terminal on the route to Jinmo. Check the stop name and direction before boarding. A bus arriving in Yeosu does not leave visitors at the expo entrance automatically.
By air
Yeosu City's current transport plan includes an airport shuttle route during the event. The English organizer page does not publish the same detail clearly. Confirm the day's airport stop and frequency in the official Smart Web or with the information line before choosing a flight around a tight expo entry time.
The free shuttle network
Useful published origins include:
- Yeosu Expo Station for a direct main-venue shuttle
- Yeosu City Hall and Yi Sun-sin Park
- Gukdong temporary parking and waterfront stops
- Jinnam Stadium and the central bus terminal

There is a live-source discrepancy worth knowing. The organizer's English page calls its network 10 proposed routes, with eight mainland routes and two island routes. Yeosu City's newer traffic plan lists 11 routes and publishes frequencies. That does not mean one page is safe to memorize and the other is wrong. It means the service was still being finalized close to opening.
Use the official expo Smart Web or the day's information desk to confirm the stop. Save the Korean destination name μ§λͺ¨μ§κ΅¬ for Jinmo and a screenshot of the return pickup point. The shuttle that solves the arrival is not necessarily the best route back to the hotel.
Driving and temporary parking
The organizer directly warns against driving to the gate on busy days. Parts of Dolsan have narrow or single-lane roads, and entry or exit can take one to two hours on weekends, holidays and major program days.
The current temporary-parking list publishes 16 locations with 6,992 spaces. Larger hubs include parking near Yeosu Expo Station, Jinnam Stadium, City Hall and Gukdong. Some lots operate only on weekends and holidays.
Choose a lot by its shuttle, not by a map pin that looks closest to Jinmo. A closer Dolsan lot can still sit behind the congestion. Save the lot address, shuttle stop and final return time before leaving the car. Parking counts and access can change during the 61-day run.
One-day and two-day plans
One long day from Seoul
- Take a morning train with a reserved seat to Yeosu Expo Station.
- Board the direct Jinmo shuttle rather than stopping for an improvised taxi.
- Spend the middle of the day in the main exhibition halls and take a proper meal break.
- Choose one late performance or outdoor section, not every item on the schedule.
- Leave enough time for the shuttle and station transfer before the booked return train.
This plan is vulnerable to a late arrival and a crowded evening exit. Keep the final train details and one later fallback visible offline.
Two days in Yeosu
Use day one for Jinmo and the evening program. On day two, choose either a booked island visit or Expo Ocean Park and central Yeosu. Do not schedule Gaedo in the morning, Geumodo in the afternoon and Jinmo at night. The ferry handoffs make that itinerary fragile even before weather enters the calculation.
A traveler who wants Geumodo walking or Gaedo camping should build the second day around that activity first. Add city attractions only after the outbound and return sailings are secure.
Families and accessibility
The main venue has three information points and rental counters for wheelchairs, walking aids and strollers. The same counters publish phone charging. Two Happy Mom centers provide rest, feeding and diaper-changing space for families with babies. Lockers, shaded waiting areas, parasols and cooling mist are also listed.
The organizer says priority entry called E-um Pass is available for visitors who may struggle with long waits, including disabled visitors, pregnant visitors, people aged 75 and older, island residents and families with children aged 3 and under. Confirm eligibility and the entrance procedure at the main information desk.
These facilities do not prove that every island ferry, trail or activity is step-free. A family using a stroller or a traveler who cannot manage steep paths should ask about the exact sub-venue route before booking it. Jinmo is the lower-uncertainty choice because the organizer publishes more on-site support there.
The official site did not publish a clear English maximum bag size during this review. Do not invent one from another expo. Use a small day bag, keep medicines and child supplies easy to inspect, and ask the organizer about oversized luggage before bringing it to the gate.
Apps and offline files that help
- Expo Smart Web: current map, activity booking and schedule links for the event.
- KorailTalk or the Korail website: live train inventory, carriage and disruption checks.

- Weather forecast: check wind and rain before any ferry-based day, then confirm the sailing with the operator.
Save the ticket, Jinmo shuttle stop, hotel address and ferry confirmation outside a single app. Write one meeting point in Korean and English if the group separates. The expo runs across several sites, so a generic pin named "Yeosu Expo" is not precise enough.
Where Roaming eSIM fits into a Yeosu trip
Roaming eSIM cannot reserve a KTX seat, create ferry capacity or guarantee reception on the water. Its practical role is providing mobile data on a compatible unlocked phone for current shuttle information, Naver Map or KakaoMap, translation and messages while the usual SIM remains installed where the device supports dual SIM.
The public Roaming eSIM catalog returned 33 South Korea package records when checked on September 4. The records expose plan-level allowance, validity, speed label, named operators and top-up support. Check the selected card because those fields vary by package.
