How OpenSim referrals work: share your link and earn store credit
Share your OpenSim referral link with friends who travel. They save on their first eSIM, and you earn store credit when they buy. Your Referrals page shows your current reward and your friend's discount, along with your clicks and the purchases your friends make.
The same steps in text
- Join. On the home screen, tap Profile. Tap Refer friends. Tick I agree to the referral terms, then tap Join.
- Share your link. Tap Copy link, or use Share to send it in a message. Friends nearby can scan your QR code.
- Your friend saves. On your friend's phone, they open your link and tap Sign in to claim. When they buy in the OpenSim app, their friend discount is already applied. A friend can also type your code at checkout and tap Apply.
- You earn store credit. When your friend buys, your reward shows in Refer friends. Rewards wait under Pending, then move to Ready to spend.
- Spend it. At checkout, turn on Use store credit. Then tap Pay.
Join from the website or the app
On the website, sign in, open your account menu and choose Refer friends. In the app, open the Profile tab and tap Refer friends. Get the latest version of the OpenSim app from the App Store or Google Play.
Tick the box to agree to the referral terms, then select Join. Your own link, QR code and website button appear straight away. Each account can join once, and you need to be old enough to enter a binding agreement where you live.
Share your link, QR code or button
Your Referrals page gives you three ways to share, and you can use any of them.
- Copy your link into a message, or use Share to send it from your phone.
- Show your QR code, which friends can scan with their phone camera, or download it for a poster or a slide.
- Paste the button's HTML into your website or blog, and clicks on it count as button clicks.
The page counts link clicks, QR code scans and button clicks separately, and shows how many friends claimed their discount. Keep your link off coupon and deal sites, and never promote it with spam, misleading claims or fake accounts.
What your friend gets
Your friend gets a discount on their first eSIM purchase, and it does not apply to later purchases. They are linked to you when they sign in after opening your link, or when they enter your code at checkout on the website or in the app. Once they are linked, they stay linked, and another referrer's link does not move them.
Only new customers can be referred. A friend who already has an OpenSim account can still be linked to you, as long as they have never paid for an OpenSim purchase. If a coupon or another offer gives them a better price, that offer applies instead and they stay linked to you.

How you earn store credit
You earn store credit on each new eSIM your friend buys during the earning period in the referral terms, counted from the moment their account is linked to you. Your reward is worked out from what your friend actually paid, without the service fee. Top-ups to an eSIM they already have do not earn rewards, and clicks on their own never earn anything.

Spend your credit on your next trip
At checkout, tick "Use store credit" on the website or turn on "Use store credit" in the app, and your credit comes off that order. You do not need to type a code. How to spend your OpenSim store credit walks through both checkouts.
For creators with an audience
If you share OpenSim with an audience through videos, a blog, a newsletter or a travel community, look at the OpenSim creator program. Anyone in the referral program can apply, and OpenSim approves each creator by hand. Approved creators agree their reward and their audience's discount with us, and they can cash out their referral earnings to PayPal.
Questions
Can I refer myself or my second account?
No. A referral never counts for your own account, an account with the same or an equivalent email address, or an account that pays with a card you have used.
Do my friends need the app?
No. Your link opens the OpenSim website, and your friends can buy there or in the app.
What if something on my Referrals page looks wrong?
Contact OpenSim support with the email address on your account and what you expected to see.
