Using a friend's OpenSim referral link or code

A friend who uses OpenSim can send you a referral link or a referral code. It takes money off your first eSIM, on the OpenSim website or in the app. When you buy, your friend earns store credit, and it costs you nothing extra.
Open the link and sign in
Your friend's link opens the OpenSim website with a short message that shows how much you save. Select "Sign in to claim", then sign in or create your account, and the discount is saved to that account.

Sign in on the same browser where you opened the link. If you sign in later or on another device, enter your friend's code at checkout instead. On Android, if you install the OpenSim app from your friend's link, the app links you to your friend after you sign in.
Enter the code at checkout
On the website, open "Have a coupon or voucher?" on the payment page, type the code under "Enter your code" and select "Apply code and continue". In the app, type the code in the "Coupon or voucher code" box and tap Apply. Get the latest version of the OpenSim app from the App Store or Google Play.

Once your account is linked to your friend, you do not have to type anything. The website fills in the code and checks your friend discount when you pay. The app applies it for you, shows "Your friend discount is applied" and lowers the total before you pay.
What the friend discount covers
The discount applies to your first eSIM purchase only, and later purchases are at the normal price. It does not stack with other offers. If a coupon, a day-pass price or another discount gives you a better price, checkout keeps that price instead, and you stay linked to your friend.
Once you are linked to a friend, you stay linked to them. A referral link from someone else later on does not move you. Your friend can see the friend discount on their Referrals page, and the full rules are in the referral terms.
Why the discount did not apply
Checkout tells you why a referral code did not work. These are the usual reasons.
It is not your first eSIM
The discount is for new customers, so it no longer applies once you have paid for an OpenSim purchase. Checkout says "This discount is for new OpenSim customers" or "This discount is for your first OpenSim purchase."
You used your own code
You can't use your own referral link or code. That includes another account with the same or an equivalent email address, such as a Gmail address with an extra dot or a plus tag.
Another offer gave a better price
Checkout says "Your current price is already lower than the friend discount" and keeps the lower price. You stay linked to your friend.
You signed in with a different account
The discount is saved to the account you claimed it on, not to your phone or browser. Sign in with that account, or enter the code at checkout.
Your account is linked to someone else
If you were linked to another friend first, checkout says "Your account is already linked to a different referral." The first friend's code is the one that works for you.
The link is no longer active
A referral link stops working when the referral account behind it is put on hold. Checkout says "This referral link is no longer active."
If none of these fit, contact OpenSim support and tell us the code you used.
Invite your own friends
Once you have an account, you can join the referral program and share your own link. How OpenSim referrals work explains how to join and what you earn.
Sources and updates
The OpenSim referral terms set the rules for the friend discount: new customers only, the first eSIM only, no stacking with a better offer, and how an account is linked to a referrer. The Referrals page is where the person who invited you sees their current friend discount. We will update this guide when the friend discount rules or the checkout steps change.
