For five nights, choose one row. For seven nights, one base plus two substantial outings is enough. For ten nights, pair Montego Bay with Negril or Ocho Rios, or make Kingston a deliberate second trip chapter. Do not add a second base only to collect famous names.

- Can five nights include Montego Bay, Negril and Ocho Rios? It can include the driving, but not a calm version of all three. Choose one base.
- Which base works with children of different ages? Montego Bay has the most balanced first-trip mix. Ocho Rios favours active school-age children, Negril favours beach time, and Kingston favours culture.
- Should we bring a child restraint? Bring one you can install correctly or reserve the exact type in writing. Never assume a transfer vehicle has a suitable rear belt or restraint.
- Is Dunn's River suitable for a toddler? The park can offer more than the climb, but the climb is not a toddler default. Confirm the current splash and non-climbing options.
- Which excursion works for an 11-year-old? Green Grotto, the Cultural Centre, Dunn's River and selected Mystic Mountain activities can work, but interests and operator rules decide.
- Is a long airport transfer worth it? Only when the chosen base changes the trip. Do not put a small child through several long transfers for one attraction.

Montego Bay: easiest arrival and a useful indoor fallback
Harmony Beach Park
Children can walk, run and use the open space while adults reset after a flight. Ages two to fifteen can use the park differently. Allow one and a half to three hours rather than turning it into a full beach day.
The UDC documents a rubberised jogging trail and a large public site, but does not publish enough detail to promise a fully step-free family route. Ask about accessible toilets, changing space and the current playground condition. Bring a stroller for younger children and shade supplies for open sections.
The park is listed open. An earlier government notice restricted swimming because of water quality, and the current pages do not clearly resolve that notice. Doctor's Cave Bathing Club
Children swim in a managed beach setting with facilities close by. Ages three to fifteen are a practical fit when an adult remains within reach. Allow two to four hours and leave before heat or water fatigue takes over.
Sand limits stroller usefulness at the waterline. Ask about the current accessible route from entrance to seating. Some exhibits address enslavement and violence. Give children context and let them take a break rather than rushing every room. Confirm the current tour time before travelling. Discovery Bay and Ocho Rios: active days with firm limits
Green Grotto Caves
Children join a guided cave route, look for limestone formations and learn how the caves have been used over time. Ages six to fifteen are the clearest fit. Allow one and a half to two and a half hours including arrival and the tour.
Stairs, uneven ground, low light and humid surfaces make a stroller impractical. Ask the venue whether any partial route works for a mobility need. Dunn's River Falls and Park

Transport with children in Jamaica
Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay is the useful gateway for Montego Bay, Negril and most Ocho Rios stays. Norman Manley International Airport serves Kingston. A booking map may show modest distances, but traffic, road shape, stops and weather make journey times variable. Ask the provider for a current door-to-door range and add a child buffer.
Jamaica's Road Traffic Act requires a driver carrying a child to use the prescribed child restraint. The 2022 Regulations tie correct use to the manufacturer's instructions, height and weight limits, proper shoulder-belt position and airbag restrictions. They do not support a made-up one-age-fits-all rule.
Reserve the restraint type in writing, including the child's height and weight. Confirm that the vehicle has a compatible rear belt and that the same restraint follows every airport and attraction transfer.
