Nomad Pass renews 1GB every 30 days across Europe
Nomad is promoting Nomad Pass as an always-on Europe data subscription. It includes 1GB every 30 days across the 35 destinations in Nomad's published Europe list, then renews automatically after a successful recurring payment.
The date needs context. Nomad's media center published its announcement on August 6, 2026, while an independent article described the product in May. The August campaign is current, but it should not be treated as proof that the subscription first became available this month.
The traveler decision: Nomad Pass can suit someone who returns to covered European destinations often and wants a small connection ready on arrival. A traveler taking one trip, visiting a destination outside its published list or needing more than 1GB should compare the full recurring cost with a one-time Roaming eSIM plan.
What the Nomad Pass subscription includes
Nomad's current Pass page publishes the operating rules behind the launch headline.

Nomad calls the profile permanent while the Pass remains active. That does not mean the data balance lasts forever. The included allowance has its own 30-day cycle, and the subscription continues charging until it is cancelled or a payment fails.
Unused data does not roll over
The included 1GB refreshes at the start of the next billing cycle even if data remains. Nomad says unused data does not carry forward.
That rule changes the value calculation. A subscriber who uses 200MB in one cycle does not begin the next with 1.8GB. The remaining 800MB expires and the balance returns to 1GB after the next successful payment.
Over 12 successful cycles, the headline cost is US$36 and the subscription releases up to 12 separate 1GB allowances. It does not create one 12GB annual balance. A traveler who spends most of the year outside the covered region may pay for several allowances that expire unused.
Check your phone's recent mobile-data history before subscribing. Maps, messages and digital tickets can fit inside a small allowance when automatic photo backup, video and app updates stay off. The 30-day renewal date follows signup
Nomad says renewal occurs every 30 days from the original signup date. It is not described as billing on the first day of each month.
The base 1GB refills after the recurring payment succeeds. A traveler relying on the Pass for an arrival should therefore check the next payment date, payment method and refreshed balance before leaving Wi-Fi. A failed or expired card can interrupt the expected refill.
Create a calendar reminder a few days before each cycle. The reminder is useful even for someone who plans to keep the subscription because it creates a regular point to check the route, data use and saved payment method.
Cancellation ends more than the next renewal
Nomad says a customer can cancel from Manage, open Nomad Pass Details, select the arrow beside Payment and cancel without a termination fee.
The current allowance remains available until the end of its existing 30-day cycle. Two less obvious changes happen sooner:
- The 15% add-on discount ends immediately.
- No more add-ons can be purchased for that Pass profile, even at the standard price.
This means cancelling on departure day is not always the cleanest choice when the traveler may need extra data during the remaining cycle. Check the balance first, buy any necessary eligible add-on while the subscription is active, then confirm the cancellation state and final access date.
Deleting the profile from the phone is not the documented cancellation method. Cancel the billing in the account. Nomad's separate reinstallation guide says transfer and reinstall limits vary by the supplied profile, so do not remove an active Pass merely to stop renewal.

The Pass covers Nomad's 35-country Europe list
Nomad publishes this destination list for the Pass: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Gibraltar, Greece, Holy See, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, San Marino, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.
Turkey is not on that list. Neither are Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia or Serbia. Do not assume that the phrase “Europe” covers an entire rail, road or cruise itinerary.
Territories also need a direct check. The published country list does not explain every island or overseas coverage boundary. Ask Nomad support to confirm the exact place when the itinerary includes a territory rather than relying on the nearest country name.
For a mixed route, compare a Europe Roaming eSIM, the individual destination pages or a Global Roaming eSIM. Check every stop on the selected product rather than choosing the plan with the largest country count.
Add-ons cost extra and the 15% discount has limits
One gigabyte is the monthly base, not an unlimited allowance. Nomad says active subscribers can buy Europe Regional add-ons after the base plan has started.
The advertised 15% discount applies to eligible Europe Regional add-ons other than the 1GB pack. Nomad separately advertises a discounted US$3 price for the 1GB add-on. The live checkout remains the authority for the available sizes and final total.
An add-on does not change the subscription into a one-time product. The next US$3 Pass renewal can still occur on schedule unless the customer cancels. Compare the combined base fee and expected add-ons with a larger one-time regional plan before buying.
Nomad Pass also affects Nomad's separate loyalty program. The current Nomad Membership rules fast-track an active Pass subscriber to Explorer. If the subscription ends before the account independently reaches the published qualifying-spend threshold, the account can return to Traveler. Treat that status as a secondary benefit, not as a reason to keep an unused subscription.
Calls, SMS and hotspot use still need separate checks
Nomad's help center says most of its products are data-only and do not provide a usable number for ordinary calls or SMS. The Pass page does not publish a voice or text inclusion, so do not expect it to receive verification codes.
WhatsApp, FaceTime and other internet services can use the data allowance after their accounts are already set up. Keeping the usual SIM enabled can preserve calls and SMS, but the home carrier may charge for roaming activity. Select the Pass for cellular data, turn off cellular-data switching and keep data roaming off on the home line unless the carrier confirms it is included. Nomad says hotspot works on most of its products, while warning that device and local-network conditions can affect stability. Confirm the selected Pass and destination before relying on tethering for work. One laptop update can also use much of a 1GB cycle.

Nomad Pass or a one-time Roaming eSIM plan?

Nomad Pass wins for the narrow use case it actually serves: a repeat traveler using light data inside the published Europe 35 route can keep one active profile and receive a new 1GB allowance every successful cycle.
The Roaming eSIM catalog was checked on August 25. It listed a United Kingdom 1GB, seven-day plan at US$1.14 with eligible top-up and a Turkey 1GB, seven-day plan at US$0.92 with eligible top-up. Those country plans have a shorter route and validity than Nomad Pass, so the examples show why a single-destination traveler should compare rather than claim that one price wins every itinerary.
