San Francisco Fleet Week 2026: free views, tours and transit
San Francisco Fleet Week's air show runs October 9, 10 and 11, 2026, from noon to 4 p.m. General admission at Marina Green is free; paid hospitality is separate. The Blue Angels are scheduled for 3 p.m. each day, subject to change. Choose a viewing area and transport route before setting out, especially if you want to combine aircraft and ship tours. Official air-show information and performer schedule.
Two details can change your weekend plan: Presidio car entrances close at noon on Saturday and Sunday, and the SS Jeremiah O'Brien's October 10 and 11 cruises have been cancelled. Neither means the whole waterfront is closed. They mean an old parking pin or cruise recommendation needs checking before you travel.

What is free, and when can you visit?
All times below are local to San Francisco. A noon-to-4 air-show window is not the same as every performer flying continuously.
| Activity | Current published time | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| Air show | Friday October 9 through Sunday October 11, noon to 4 p.m. | Free general admission at Marina Green; paid hospitality separately |
| Blue Angels | 3 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday | Performer times can change |
| Ship tours at Piers 27 and 35 | Saturday October 10 and Sunday October 11, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. | Free, with screening and first-come entry |
| Monday ship tours | October 12, 9 a.m. to noon, Pier 35 only | Do not assume both piers remain open |
The organizer's ship-tour page does not list Friday October 9 tours. Use its day-by-day listing rather than interpreting the broader Fleet Week dates as daily ship access.
Choose the activity that matters most. A ship tour, lunch and a move across the waterfront are a poor plan if you leave no spare time before the flight you want to see. A map's walking estimate does not include screening or stopping with children.
Where should you watch with children or an older relative?
Marina Green is the organizer's free general-admission location. A paid reservation may suit someone who wants the specific facilities included in that ticket, but a ticket is not necessary simply to see the show from the public viewing area.
The Presidio identifies accessible toilets at the Main Post and Tunnel Tops, with food at pop-up areas including Main Parade Lawn and Outpost Meadow. Use its map to choose a place near a toilet and an exit, not only a photographically appealing spot. Presidio visitor guidance.
With children, plan a shorter viewing session and a retreat if the noise is too much. Bring suitable hearing protection, layers and sun protection. For an older relative, agree on the amount of standing and walking before choosing a location. A mapped route does not establish step-free access or a reserved seat.
Keep air-show photography and ship touring as separate packing decisions. Equipment you can carry along the waterfront may not be admitted aboard.
What can you bring on a Fleet Week ship tour?
The official shipboard rules require screening and bag searches. Adults should bring government-issued photo ID; visitors aged 17 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Wear closed-toe shoes.
Strollers are prohibited, and there is no holding area for prohibited items. Food, drinks and liquids are also prohibited. Camera lenses longer than 100 mm and tripods are not allowed aboard under these rules. Do not join the queue assuming someone will store your stroller or photography kit.
Ships can have steep ladders and uneven surfaces. Someone who needs a step-free visit should check arrangements before joining the queue. Viewing from the pier and watching the air show are different activities from boarding a vessel; choose what fits your group.
How do you get there by BART and Muni?
BART is running longer trains on Saturday and Sunday. Its Fleet Week directions give these arrival choices:
- Fisherman's Wharf: Embarcadero Exit A1 connects to the F service.
- Presidio: Embarcadero Exit B1 leads toward the PresidioGO stop at Drumm and California.
- Marina: Montgomery Exit A1 gives access to the 30 on Kearny Street.
Adult contactless payment requires a separate card or device for each person; Clipper remains accepted. Check children's fare arrangements before leaving rather than assuming one adult's bank card can pay everyone through the gates.
SFMTA's October 9-11 notice says F streetcars turn back at Pier 39 from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Extra F buses operate, but crowds can shorten their waterfront service too. Extra 28 and 49 trips have shortened routes: read the headsign rather than assuming every vehicle serves the full route. Cable cars also have weekend bus substitutions.
If a cable-car ride matters to your child, check the notice before promising it. Keep a fallback that does not depend on the same crowded waterfront stop.
Can you drive into the Presidio after noon?
On October 10 and 11, the Presidio's Arguello, Presidio, Lombard and Mason vehicle entrances close at noon. Public transit, walking and cycling access remain available. Reopening depends on conditions after the show. The free downtown PresidioGO shuttle has extra weekend service every 15 minutes from 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Current Presidio arrangements.
Driving in early does not remove the need for a return plan. Record where you parked. If someone is collecting you later, agree on an official accessible pickup location instead of asking them to drive toward the crowd.
Will a rideshare app take you to the waterfront?
SFMTA says Waymo geofences apply Friday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., with restricted waterfront pickup and drop-off and no Presidio service during that window. Those specific geofences do not apply to Uber, Lyft or taxis, although closures and traffic still affect them. SFMTA rideshare notice.
A working data connection lets you check the app; it does not extend the app's service area. Check the actual pickup pin before confirming a ride.
Are the Jeremiah O'Brien Fleet Week cruises running?
No. The operator has cancelled its October 10 and 11 cruises, citing strong currents and the lack of a suitable alternate pier. Ticket holders are to receive refund instructions by email. The operator plans dockside viewing, with details to follow; do not treat that as confirmed replacement cruise access.
If a discussion recommends the ship as a boat trip, check the operator page before paying. Other operators have their own availability and terms; this cancellation does not mean every bay cruise is cancelled.
For a longer visit, keep booked attractions separate from Fleet Week speculation. Our Alcatraz autumn closure guide covers the later closure and booking remedies. Check your reservation date before changing it.
Save your return route before the first flight
Keep the official schedule, SFMTA notice, BART departure information and Presidio map easy to reopen. Save screenshots of your viewing area, transfer stop and hotel address. An offline map helps with geography, but it will not receive a changed service notice.
Choose a specific meeting place and fallback time with your group. After the show, check the next service before walking to a stop, and allow a slower journey. Avoid a tight airport connection directly after the 4 p.m. finish.
Do you need separate data for a California weekend?
If your usual plan includes suitable US data, that may be all you need. Otherwise, OpenSim United States plans offer separate allowances for maps, live transport checks and family messaging. The catalog checked October 9 listed top-up-eligible examples of 1GB for seven days at $1.80 USD and 5GB for 30 days at $6.80 USD, before any checkout fees or currency conversion.
The useful choice is trip length: a waterfront weekend and a longer California journey need not use the same allowance. Compare the total with your home operator's roaming offer. No plan guarantees fast service in a crowd or bypasses a road closure or ride-app boundary.
Before buying, use the travel data calculator, check phone compatibility and review installation timing. Families extending the trip can use the United States with kids guide to choose the next region.

Event, access, transport and product details were checked October 9, 2026. Current organizer and transport notices take precedence over this guide. We will update this page for material changes to the 2026 schedule, tour access, closures or cruise arrangements, and retain its dated scope after the event rather than present it as next year's advice.
